Well, it's not always that they just can't spell...sometimes English might not be the asker's first language, or they're doing that stupid internet language thing.

Like leaving out an apostrophe in the compound word do not? Couldn't resist!! A lot of people do not have spelling abilities as they struggled in school and were not given the extra attention they needed. This was a common complaint of my parent-teachers that there was so much "politically correct" curriculum to be taught, that they didn't really have time to teach a child that was falling behind in the very basics. Also, many people on Y.A. are not English speaking by nature and rely on sounding to formulate their words. However, there is a large amount of computer shorthand used that makes it very difficult to interpret at times what people are saying and since certain language is banned on this site, they use alternative ways of formulating foul language.

The real question is why don't they use the handy little check spelling button? Maybe they can't read. Ah ha! We figured it out!

I've gotten that same story about how its perfectly good spelling for chat....and I always tell them fine....keep practicing for filling out an employment application.

The same reason they can't post the query in the right area (IE ons about mesenger in Eiquette). Basically laziness.

Probably for the same reason they don't capitalize the first word of a sentence.
