"A lie that can/will do good to anyone, a lie that can save someone's life, lie that can prevent war, fights, any lie that prevent something bad from happening or does good, then say that lie because it will do good. There's no sin saying that kind of lie." It was said by Lord Krishna in Hinduism. What do you think of it? Please comment. I have to admit that so far I have had studied about his life, the man did lots of good things throughout his life on Earth such as: he opposed worshipping other gods and taught people to worship Nature because it takes care of us, Opposed human sacrifices that people performed to impress gods. I admit that I learned few good things by studying his life. The good deeds he did in his life are remarkable. We can all learn something from his life. I try to learn from his good deeds, not worship him. I only worship the One and Only, Waheguru, True Mighty Lord. One Lord, the father of us all. True Lord's the Father of Jesus, of Muhammed, of Krishna.

sometime a lie can do good. For example, just pretend somebody u know is/will take some hard exams or going through a bad situation in their life. Even though they are sad and u urself know that they may not achieve their goal nut atleast telling that U R DOING GOOD or GOOD JOB U R JUST DOING A FINE JOB is a type pf lie that might just bring smile on their faces for few minutes but u will help them atleast ease up a bit so tell me that did you do a sin or what?

Wisdom often tells me that one may not say things and it will be better that way. Yes, I agree... there are white lies that save us or others a lot of suffering.
To be too honest may come over as extremely aggressive and harmful. The tongue is a poison snake and honesty often can do more harm than good. Not everything is meant for the ears of everybody and there are very few absolute truths on Earth.
Even when we think we are being honest, we may be forcing and standing up for temporary half-truths in front of others ... truths that may be untrue due to the fact that we omitted something, for example. Just as we can never know all facets of a situation and we cannot control everything that happens, saying that we are honest and our own truth is the only one that exists is a pushy thing to do.

The kind of lying Krishna did was a good deed, after all... right?

Extremism should be avoided, harmony is located just in the middle between upright lies and uptight honesty... and the world, and real life is often simply... gray, and not black or white.....
Therefore, moderation in our words, diplomacy and gentle deeds usually bring harmony and good long-term benefits, even though it is hard to do so.

I can not condone lying. No matter the reason. If you tell a lie to help someone one time then you have to do it again and again where have you gotten. I am not saying that I am perfect and have not previously told small lies to keep from hurting someones feelings, but it backfired in my face, and I see why God says do not lie. Anyone who has told a lie for whatever reason has had it come back on them. It is much better to be honest than to lie. As far as Krishna goes I do not know of him. But to tell someone to worship Nature because it can do good for you is also wrong. Nature is and was created by God therefore you need to worship the creator not the creations.

We cannot stop war or anything big happening form just lying, If we are doing charity and want to hide from other than only your lie is not a lie. When you are favoring others and saying that I am not the one it is because of God, than you are not lying. Here God (Krishna) wants to say that, you do your duties (deeds) but don't claim. Don’t associate us with that.

If a lie can prevent wars, save someones life, and prevent something bad from happening then I say by all means lie.

I agree, and I applaud your studies and attitude. Love is the answer to "it all."

I wonder where God ever said it was a sin to lie. Since there are very few "words" supposedly spoken by God, and a million HUMAN interpretations of those few words, I would like a specific instance where God said, "Do not lie, ever, under any circumstance, or go to Hell!!!!!"

I worship nothing, but have respect for nature, and do take helpful advice from anyone if it betters my life, but the fact is if you worship it is a religion and I do not go for that. That is the most convincing argument I have heard for a religion on this section, but I am still atheist..I do not follow anyone, because I know how to live my life.

The universal of religion is belief in God and living rightly.

The two are tied together. Living rightly can be done for worldly gain so living rightly alone will not work. Belief in God can be separate from living a good life so a life of evil is not cancelled by belief in God. A person's life follows them into the next life and your loves determine your place.

God works everywhere with all people. . .you shouldn't be surprised to find the truth in foreign spiritual texts.

As for the lies, I was told this as a definition for a lie:

"Saying what is contrary to what is on your mind to someone who has A RIGHT TO KNOW".

Ex. A child lies to a someone at the door, so as not to give away that parents aren't home.

Be careful of saving feelings:

If you tell your friend he/she is a great singer, and they make a fool of themselves on TV's American Idol. . .are you doing your friend a favor??
