I have a butterfly knife. It is a Spyderfly from Spyderco. The latch that locks the knife closed no longer springs back when i squeeze the knife for quick opening. The spring is there but its not doing anything. I think it got bent somehow. Is there a way to repair this and if so what tools will I require. Is there a place to buy replacement springs? If its not something I can repair myself do you know of a good knife repair shop in california?

Thanks everyone,
Silence

I am aware of california knife law. It is illegal to carry a balisong knife of any kind. However ownership of a balisong knife is permitted as long as it does not leave private property.

This is not something that can be superglued. It would be illegal for me to sell this blade to anyone in california, therefor I can not pawn it. To those of you who said to contact Spyderco I am already trying that and awaiting a response.

Thank you everyone for your help,
Silence

It is a balisong knife. The Spring is for the latch that keeps the knife together. It has no function in opening the blade.

It does fit the description of switchblade per california state law. A switchblade is considered any blade that can be opened with one hand according to california.

Spyderco might fix it. Most knives companies are good about repairing their products. Check them out on line.

You may have a "switchblade" or assisted opening folder!

just trade it in at a pawn shop tell them it's perfect and then get a new one with the money they give you, it shouldn't cost that much including the money that they will give you
