Why do so many people in danger pray to God? Who put that desire there? Often those asserting that there is no God blame Him for catastrophes or tragedies. Think of 9/11. Why blame a non-existent God????

Because eveyone believes in God, Even those who say they don't. Even satan believes that God is real. People choose to either accept Jesus as their savior or not. But always at the paveribal eleventh hour of eveyone's life, be it near death or danger, call upon the name of the Lord our God.

Romans 14:11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

We were created to have a relationship with God. People turn to Him in times of trouble.

They blame God because they say if there was a God he would end suffering. The catastrophes are caused by our sin and how we have treated the planet.

Before you can even begin to ask this question, you must first provide some evidence of your initial assumptive claim "Why do so many people in danger pray to God?"

I would presume that it's not unusual for Christians to pray to God when in danger ... as they profess to pray to God often anyway. But you have no evidential information proving your statement to be factually correct otherwise, when applied to individuals who are not of a faith/belief system.

You can blame God for anything you want. He is big enough to handle it. He is big enough to handle your most evil thoughts toward Him.

Human beings cannot even stand in the divine presence without falling to the ground as if dead. Human beings are born evil and cannot approach the Divine. See the beginning of Revelation where John fell at Jesus Christs feet as dead. John was a good guy too!

Catholicism started it. Saying that a person could repent and be forgiven of all sins and go to heaven. That is why most people pray when theyre in danger just in case they do die theyre hedging their bet, so that if there is a god hell forgive them and let them into heaven. That is also why murderers sentenced to death get their last rights and stuff like that.

the terrorists are blamed for 9/11. We pray to God to protect us. You wouldn't know how it feels to be protected by the Lord.

Because religion is how people cope with the fact that they are going to die. Some people choose to believe devoutly their entire lives, and some start to believe when death seems imminent. The concept of oblivion, that we as conscious beings will cease to exist, is unfathomable. So we choose to believe that there's something else out there, that we continue in another life somewhere.

"Men fear death as children fear to go in the dark; and as that natural fear in children is increased with tales, so is the other."

It is called a moment of weakness. And the weakness occurs in their brains causing them to talk to imaginary figures. They just get "scared out of their wits".
