If so, why did you leave, and what did you do instead?

I considered myself a Christian for 17 years. But like dimbulb52 said, I no longer want to be associated with the hypocritical, close-minded judgmental hateful people that "most" Christians tend to be. I say "most" because I have yet to meet a Christian who isn't like this. I still believe in God as the Creator, although I tend to see some of the inconsistencies in the Bible. Because of this, my faith in Christianity (or any organized religion) has faltered quite a bit. Here's some interesting reading. And NO this is not what changed my mind; I'm not that shallow or weak-minded. It's just eye-opening.

My husband and I along with 3 children started going to church about 4 months ago. where we went we liked at first. but then if for some reason you missed one Sunday, they were calling the house, wanting to know why. and acted like we were breaking every commandment every written. They were letting religion take over instead of worship.

Yes

Because I got sick of the number of Hypocrites preforming atrocities in the name of their God. Way to much death, destruction and dismay in the name of the Christian God - usually against others worshipping the _same_ God in a different way. The situation in Ireland is only one of a Sagan ("Billions & Billions & Billions") of examples.

I'm a history buff - I know the relationships between these rival 'spritual' groups.

I have an aunt who decided that she didn't want to give up certain worldly pleasures and she also didn't want to pretend that she was living a pure Christian life, so she decided to stop serving the Lord so as to not be a "hypocrite"

She's out there serving God in a casual sort of way...

Only God knows her outcome.

I can see that someone would "take down his sign" just to keep from being associated with some of the high-profile hate-mongers calling themselves christians. The moral posturing and harsh judging of one another has nothing to do with the teachings of Christ.

Sure... most atheists. Why? Because they learn how to think properly. Christianity cannot withstand the glaring light of reason and critical thought. You ought to try it.

Honestly, If they accepted Jesus as their savior, then they experienced a life that they would never give up for anyone or any thing. So it's not likely to have happened, if a person truly accepted Jesus as thier savior.
