It is the person who owned the trees responsibility
to pay for damages if they own their home their insurance should take care of the damage
If they rent the home their landlords insurance should if they do not have insurance they will have to pay for damages
best thing to do is to get an estimate of cost of repair

Wow! Typically your neighbor would be responsible because it was his tree. However, wind is an "Act of God" and courts are known to consider someone not responsible for damage caused by these acts. I wish you the best in being compensated for your property.

I would discuss it with your neighbor, and split the costs 50/50 if possible. It really wasn't anyones fault.
