If you like jewelry it's always a great looking pc, depending of course which one you get.
I have a Date Just with the two-tone jubilee bracelet and blue face which i purchased about 16 yrs ago. still looks new.
This particular one is sellling new for about 2000 more than what i paid.
The used ones are a few hundred over what i paid i think.
It's an investment, weather its a great investment or just a good one.. time will tell.

I personally would not, even if I had an infinite amount of money.
Part of the whole mystique about Rolex is that they can be passed down from generation to generation and that you can always get the parts to repair them.
You could make a very expensive digital watch, but when it needs service, the display or buttons will inevitably not be made anymore. So, no one is going to make a digital watch that has high gold content or has other status symbols.
In my opinion though that kind of thinking belongs to another age, when rich people bought things that lasted forever and poor people had to make do with shoddy products.
Those days are gone and some people find it hard to accept.
Like some contributors have said, when I see a man with a Rolex I see a man who missed the opportunity to have atomic time keeping.
I see a man so inadequate that he has to tell the time different to everyone else to prove how great he is.
It's different with a status symbol car, because most of them are better than the average car. I guess a status symbol car is a genuine expression of power.
A Rolex is a statement of pathos.

The question is relative to how important the watch is to you and how much you plan to spend. Be careful of fakes. Rolex is a status symbol especially the Rolex President. That watch has been a long time symbol of success. I own one and it was worth buying. If it makes you feel good, do it.

No way. Rolex is a good watch because they put a bunch of bling
bling on it not cuz it works well. Buy an Omega, Bulova, Swiss
Army, or Wenger.

If you are buying it for the prestige, and not using credit to get it, than yes.
If you are buying it for the Swiss Construction, than don't. There are other watches out there with perpetual motion, and Swiss Construction which are much more cost effective.
If you are buying it for its accuracy, then don't. There are digital watches out there which cost a little over $100 that will automatically link up to the Nuclear Clock satelite feed and update itself. They also run on solar cells, and therefor can run just as long as perpetual motion.

If it is a concern because of money, don't buy it. People that buy items like that usually don't stress on throwing down 10k. I work in a high end retail business and money and items like that are relative to most people. But if you have to think about it to hard, you don't need it.

Can it do anything a less expensive watch does? Probably not. Unless you are only interested in the name and have the money to throw around, I wouldn't buy one.
