Say what you want about buying a dog online, but people will do it and it gets more popular every day. There are a plethera of good sound breeders that sell online. The last post is the best. Do go to the AKC website and find a breeder list. MOST will have a website with their dogs and listed prices. Be prepared for a telephone interview and varous rounds of talk by the breeder. But you can get a great purebred dog for next to nothing at your local Shelter if you live in an area that has one.

I wouldn't suggest buying a live animal sight unseen. For all you know, the owners could be lying about the animal's pedigree or health. If you must have a purebred dog, go to the pet store or contact a breeder. But honestly, you only need a pedigreed pet if you plan on breeding the dog or entering him/her in shows. If you do go this route, visit the breeder and meet the dog, if at all possible. And ask lots of questions; a quality breeder knows their animals, and doesn't mind talking about them.

Otherwise, go to your local animal shelter. There are plenty of loving and friendly pets there who need a home, and they are hundreds of dollars cheaper than pedigreed. Chances are your local government runs a city shelter, or you can find a shelter through either of the websites mentioned below. Good luck with your new pet!

try web search for the breed your interested in or your local animal shelter. Go to a local pet store and ask about adoption programs and publications from rescue centers. If your really interested in a particular breed, pick up a dog fancy magazine and look in the breeders section.

Go to the pound and save a dogs life. If U R looking for a particular breed, then ask them at the front desk if they could give U #'s of other pounds to call. Also, give them your # and ask them to give U a call if they get any dogs of that breed! Good luck!

NONE. Do NOT buy a dog online. It's ok to do RESEARCH, but physically go to the location. DO NOT buy a dog or any animal online.
