It's all part of the wonderful mental gymnastics they do to keep believing in the literal and inerrant Bible.

It is not OK for ANYONE to take a verse in the Bible out of context, and Christians GREAT at doing that. The Catholics even CHANGE the Bible to fit their needs. It is wrong for ANYONE to do.

If you would like to take some amazing free Bible studies where God's Word is NOT taken out of context, go to the following website:

It isn't OK for anyone to take verses out of context from the Bible, especially in an attempt to deliberately mislead.
Some do it on purpose, others are blind guides.

If you really want to know what God has to say on any particular topic, you might try talking to Him about it.

If a fundie takes a verse out of context-he is not much of a fundie. Any time some one attempts to interpret the Bible-he must always consider context-that why we say: "context is king".

What verse(s) are you talking about? Usually non-believers get their information from other sites and not reading the bible. So they usually dont know what they are reading. A believer has the Holy Spirit in them to teach them regarding the verses so a person of God will understand the things of God. Satan knows the bible well but twists it to decieve people. There are non-believers who do the same.

The Bible can be used to prove any argument if you look hard enough. The Old Testament is great for arguing any point you can think of. The Bible must be taken as a whole to model you life not picked apart to settle an argument or prove some idea.

Depends on how they use it.
When a Christian takes a verse out of the Bible hopefully he/she is using it correctly.
The Bible should never be used to justify an action by someone without taking the whole thing into effect.
See it makes me mad when people take one passage out and use it to defend their narrow or hurtful views. and that is true for a Christian or non believer.

In the military, they don't let you shoot a weapon until you have first learned to break it down, maintain it, and then qualify with it.

Same principle. A Fundamentalist (hopefully) has learned to "Do your best to present yourself to God as an approved worker who has nothing to be ashamed of, handling the word of truth with precision." (II Timothy 2:15)

An unbeliever doesn't know how to use the living and active Word of God. As it is written: "A person who isn't spiritual doesn't accept the things of God's Spirit, for they are nonsense to him. He can't understand them because they are spiritually evaluated." (I Corinthians 2:14)

Your are wrong on both counts. This is what the word of God says about that very topic.

Revelation 22:18-19 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
