No idea about the eunuchs in China, but the erection is a reflect not affected by castration. Of course they are infertile since the reason why they are eunuchs is because they have taken away their testicles.
If the eunuchs decided to become gays, then might be due to the use of feminine hormones. If they decide to keep on being men, male hormones might help quite a lot. Anyway whoever became an eunuch has virtually no choice about choosing what to do but they stay serving and once in a while having sex without descendants.

Till today, many of the people still believed in that Eunuchs are able to have sex in someways.
Cos in some believes that, not the whole of penis is being cut off, some of them only have the tips removed which that allowed the enunchs to have certain reactions to climax.
But from shows and records, actually more eunuchs after castrated, tend to be more female like. :P

No. Everything was cut off. A good percentage bled to death or died of shock, This was not a simple castration, it was a total removal of the male anatomy.

The idea of getting castrated is not to have sex, they become helpers and servants, often to the well off.

Eunichs (spelling?) in China (or anywhere for that matter) cannot acheive an erection because they have no testis to produce testosterone.
