Yup...I just finished baking a batch of chocolate chip scones. They are absolutely the best. I found the recipe online and it's available if you Google "Grandma Johnson's Scones" . I substitute chocolate chips for raisins, though. Might as well be totally sinful if you're going to sin, eh?

I must be crazy to heat up the oven, though. It's about 109 degrees here today.

How did your new recipe for banana bread turn out?

I'm counting Friday evening as part of the weekend, so yes. I made peanut butter cookies and chocolate chip cookies, both from my all time favorite cookbook, "The Best Recipe." I also made a cake that is so easy, I'm almost embarrassed to admit that I made it. It's perfect for a hot summer day.

1 box yellow cake mix
1 small can mandarin oranges
1 15 oz. can crushed pineapple
1 small box instant vanilla pudding mix
1 12 oz container of Cool Whip

Drain the mandarin oranges, reserving the juice. Make the cake mix according to the package directions, but substitute the juice for half of the water and stir the mandarin oranges into the mix (they'll break up). Bake according to the box, then cool completely.
Once the cake is cool, mix the Cool Whip, crushed pineapple and pudding mix until it thickens slightly. Spread over the cake and refrigerate.

I tried a new recipe for a baked donut. What a mess. I ended up throwing them out, they were nasty.
I guess I will have to find a different recipe on another day.
