ok so i cut hair and i have a client that i cut his childrens hair. we are both single with children. i think he is flirty but he has not asked me out. i want to call him and ask him out but i got his phone number from our client files at work. is it ok to call him.

No, it's not OK to call him. That would be an invasion of his privacy to use business information for a personal matter. If I were your employer and learned you had done such a thing, I would fire you.

While you are cutting his hair, you can hint very stongly that if he asks you for a date you will say yes. For instance "I'd LOVE to try that new Chinese restaurant, but I don't want to go by myself." If he doesn't respond to a hint like that, he's not interested.

It would definitely NOT be ok to get his phone number from the client file. This would be an invasion of privacy. All you can do is wait for him to come in again and give him your number or let him know your available.
Now you might be able to call him and suggest it is time to get his hair cut again...That might be acceptable.....Then maybe the subject could expand...........??????

Getting his phone number from your client files might seem a bit creepy to him. The easiest way to break the ice with him would be if you commented on how his kids and your kids would get along and that they should all get together one day. That way you could find out if he is interested in spending time with you. Try it out. If he likes you back, he will agree to day out.

why not ask him when he comes in next time? Ask him if he's got a minute, go on break so it's not on the job, and talk to him...?
