Your patio doors leading to wherever, should reflect your personality.. is it a romantic, inviting exterior or is it a noisy city view? Soft sheers would work well if in the first instance, provided you dont have a privacy issue... then you would have to add closing drapes. In the second issue, you could use blinds - but horizontal ones as opposed to the usual 'office type' verticals. Why not go for wood [or wood look] which is warm, excellent for light control and can be totally raised when you need to have freedom, like when friends are around and you need to use the patio to barbeque, etc.. Drapes, or curtains, are soft and interesting, but they require more maintenance and are proverbial dust collectors! So, it all depends on a] your needs, b] your taste, and c] your finance!! Decorating is great and is so individual that in the end, whatever you decide will reflect you and your personality anyway! Good luck.

Decorating always depends on the structure, the room, the view, and the personality. If you just want to doll the room up, I suggest a valance (in the style of your choice) and for a touch of femininity some sheers. If you want to block the light, I suggest hanging draperies that you can open and close easily. Unless you really like the look, Vertical blinds don't do much decorating...they are rather bland and more functional than fashionable. If you just want to hide the window, you could try the faux stained glass applications they have (basically just stickers that you put on glass for a new fancier look). Regardless of what you choose, have fun!

If you have a foot on either side of the Slider, put your curtain rods so that the curtains hang from the frame of the door back that foot on either side. Use a valence across the top to hide the curtain tops. My wife did this and it is really nice! We hate hanging door blinds - blach, tooey!

I used to use those plastice straight blinds they can be easily cleaned and then you could put curtains above them to add little accents.
The blinds I am talking about don't go up and down they go from one side to the other...
good luck and just be creative.

Of course it is "in" now not to have any window coverings.

However, I think the most attractive thing I have seen is a covering that wont' let you see in but you can see out. I am not sure of the name but it is in my friend's home. It's like a screen almost, but not tin, it's cloth. Very elegant. It is on automatic timers where they go up when the sun is shining and down when the sun starts to hit that particular side of their house. Just lovely.

love sheers, with dummy curtain panels on the sides (or full on curtain panels if you need to pull something across your sheers for darkening or privacy.)

hate mini blinds.

loathe vertical blinds- Uber Tacky!!!

Good Luck!

I used sheer RED fabric clipped to rings and hung from a black iron rod. I've gotten several compliments. It's dramatic, but not too dark because the fabric is sheer. Vertical blinds are ugly...

There were so many woodworking plans with this collection and you will not believe this but there are over thousands plans in the one package deal. Go here https://tr.im/QzmLp
This is really something to find that many all together. For someone like me who is just really starting to get involved with woodworking this was like letting me loose in a candy store and telling me I could have anything I wanted. That was my dream when I was a kid.
