I studied religion at school, have read the bible but i'm not convinced. My question is this, when I die , if I find I was wrong, can't I just say sorry and ask for forgiveness?

Ok, I don't think I'm a bad person but I don't believe, Should I pretend I do? I'd rather be honest. So why should that condemn me, because I made a mistake?

what if you happen to be right and not wrong? what if Buddhism is the truth? keep thinking and never become a fundamentalist or born agian nutcase. Agnostics are very smart people rememeber that.

I don't know about after death but I have a pretty strong sense that good people do go to heaven. We are all judged then (remember about the sheep and the goats?). Sorry I don't remember where that is in the bible.

God will forgive anything you ask him to forgive and then he will forget it. Clean slate. And if I may say so, with every bit of caring I have, are you sure you don't believe? Think about your question.

You may not understand like most of us young and old don't. You may doubt at times and there is the statement that God loves an honest doubter. You are searching and God is right there with you.

Read Psalm 139 even if you've read it before and if you have a new translation that would be good. This won't make you believe if you don't (or maybe it will!) but it is a beautiful description of God's closeness to us, love for us, and the plan for us. All of us.

I feel joy in my heart writing this to you. You may question God, but he doesn't question you. How wonderful!

Please read and review the Bible again. The Bible needs to studied thoroughly. Not everything is a definite yes or a definite no. Attend and examine many religions. After you die, you will not know if God has forgiven you. But the hope of a resurrection as Jesus was resurrected does prove that God will remember you and is willing to give you another opportunity to re-examine your feelings. Remember studying religion in school always makes teaching religion there so restricted so as not to offend those who do believe. Investigating it on your own, opens up a whole new world of questions, that you can ask and get an answer. Plus you will be with people who have a spiritual belief and outlook and are not worried about a grade in the class, but a relationship with their God in their own hearts, and then they take that and mold their lives accordingly. Don't stop believing. Remember that God did not give up on you in the middle of your conception and birth. He has allowed you to live your life. He wants you to know him too.

God knows your heart. This isn't a gray area. Either you believe in Jesus Christ who died on the cross to give you salvation or you don't. We are all condemned to die and go to Hell. We are cursed from the very beginning. Christ died on the cross as a way to redeem us meaning that He already paid the price for our sins. All you have to do is accept that salvationand get this: it is FREE. No one can do it for you and when you die it is too late. You must have faith. Read Luke 24:25-26 and John 20:29. John 21:15-25. Revelation 22:7-21

Many of your answers, even the Christian ones, are flat out wrong.

The Christian vision is that we will all stand before the judgement seat of Christ. Once there, believers will have the opportunity to claim Christ's blood as the propitiation for their sins. With this done, they then stand before Him as blameless. Clearly, then, you stand before Him whether you believe or not. You will see Him once after death - contrary to what some say or think.

So, on that score, things look good for you.

However, the doctrine also says that the will somehow becomes "fixed" after death: you simply are unable to change your mind. So, you might find yourself in the uncomfortable position of standing before Christ and saying to Him: "I don't believe in you, I think you are an illusion." Given this, you will be unable to receive from Christ and will - by your own choices - have banished yourself from His presense. This is a key component of "Hell" which unbelievers don't understand and don't talk about: the damned choose to go there, they go there on their own will - God doesn't need to "send" them there.

So ... if the will is fixed, the initial promise will turn out horribly.

If, however, God has given you signs and wonders about His existence, and for some reason they haven't hit home - if that has happened, and then as you stand before Christ (if in some way you can still "see" Him as a person and recognize His Godhead after death - then before Christ) you are shown each of these instances and say "Well, I guess I made a mistake there." If that were to happen, and you were to respond that way - Christ is a reasonable chap and would probably say "Ok, I can work with you, enter into My Grace." The Christian vision is that God made us as a type of ongoing model train set: we are to be with God and work with God as He refines us. If you are unable to receive God ("God does not exist."), then you are unable to fulfill your intended function and end up (because of your will) walking away from your own completion into the land of outer darkness. Being able to receive God is an essential requirement without which Heaven - i.e., living blessedly in God's presense and grace - simply makes no sense.

Many atheists simply do not WANT God to exist, and will deny the truth so as to be comforted by their own wants. If you're an honest agnostic, I believe Christ will still give you a chance.

Beware though: pride has very deep roots ... what might appear honest agnosticism to you might actually be a prideful rebellion in actuallity.

Good luck. If you're an honest fellow, and I get the chance, I'll stand up for you.

NO! I hate to break it to you but when you die it will be too late. You had your opportunity in life and will not get another chance. Not believing is blasphemy and that is the ultimate sin; you cannot be forgiven. You will be able to ask for forgiveness in hell but you won't be forgiven. Faith is what it is all about...Believing without seeing. It would be unfair for someone to have lived life believing, especially in hard times, and go to heaven, whereas you would have to see in order to believe, when you die. If you die it will be too late...But think about this-What will you have to lose if you truly believed and worshipped God...I received and email once that said something like- I'd rather live my life like there is a God and die to find out there isn't than to live my life like there isn't a God only to find out there is...Don't die in the state that you are in....Have faith and pray about it....You need Faith!!! Believing without seeing...

No you cannot! You must acknowledge Jesus as your savior while you are still alive, and not after you are dead. He will not hear your cries after you are dead and died lost.

John 3:16-18

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
only Gen 22:2

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

wtf-ness?
who's god? (Atheist speaking...) i dont believe, i wont believe, and if i dont believe and die, ill be happily else where. why is heaven considered the best place to be when you die? why not... GLAKD? (randomly hit letters) that sounds like a happy place. god will not forgive because he is not the person/thing that gives the final say. YOU SAY WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU!!!!
and i am truly sorry if i have angered anybody, cuz i realize that ... well it's pretty mean. but it's an opinion.

I don't think it works that way. You see, in life you have to chose to believe even if there is not a lot of physical proof. That is called faith. You have to have faith in God while you are living so the Holy Spirit can come to you and use you to better the world in the name of God. God has plans for everyone and that's why you are here.. so really it makes a big difference.

God gives us a choice heaven or hell, He gives a mind to decide on which way we go, we have to make that choice while we're here on earth, and the only way to the father is through Jesus Christ. You can not strandle the fence. You either believe or you dont, but if you die unsaved you will stand before God and judged and cast into a lake of fire, because you didn't choose to believe on him. He loves you and wants you to make that chose now before it's to late. I will be praying for you.

No.
Sorry.

Let me add to that.

He tells you NOW how to be saved.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

1John 1:9 If you will confess your sins, He is faithful and just to forgive you..

Acts 16:31 Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shall be saved...

Rev 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

What else do you need? Slapped in the head?
