I Asked This Question Because I Am A Spina Bifida Person Myself. I Was Curious In What Others Thought Cause In My Own Personal Experiences I Had To Deal With Situtations Where People Didn't Want To Be Friends Or That Guys Didn't Want To Date Me Because They Were Afraid Of What Their Friends Thought About It & Them. Also They Would Be To Ashame To Being Seen With Me In Public. Anyways Thanks For All Your Answers It's Actually Nice To Know That There Are People Out There That Can Accept A Person For Who They Really Are & Not What They Have Or Don't Have. So Thanks Again Little_Lady.

I wouldn't have a problem being friends with anyone who was disabled. I have to admit I might like to know more about exactly what spina bifida is before getting any more serious than that, though. I think it would be important for me to understand the condition from the girl's viewpoint so I didn't appear insensitive if I asked her out to do something that she might not be able to do, or do comfortably. Maybe I'll end up being in the minority, but I don't think if I were going to date someone who has a disability like spina bifida, that I should ignore it. Instead, I should allow her to teach me about it. I believe that would help me understand her better, bring us closer together, & help us avoid a lot of arguments we might have if I did try to ignore the situation. I wish I could give you a more detailed answer, but that's the most honesty I can give you since I am fairly ignorant of what spina bifida actually is.

My step-father was born with spina bifida. He is now 67 years old. Married twice, the last time to my mom. He seems perfectly healthy - bowls, golfs, plays trumpet in three bands.

If my mom could date and marry him I cannot see why anyone would consider that a disability that could not be overcome.

I have spina bifida and I am happily married - and would be glad to be your friend.... yes, there are some people who judge a person's worth inaccurately on what they are or aren't (by their perception) but those who won't be your friends or date you - wouldn't have been the kind of date or friend you would have agreed with in morals and ethics anyway. email me if you want a friend... can never have too many!

If there is some understanding between us for freedom to have another person, yes I would. Unless if the disability does not affect some of the 'hot' spots that we all need to get along with each other. Otherwise, we are going to end up accussing each other of 'taking advantage of each other'.

That would be a tough call...there's variations in severity of the condition, a physical relationship with someone that's wheelchair-bound would be too strange....friends? I don't see why not...

I would do both. just because they have a disability does not change their personality.
