I found some interesting statistics, some of which you may know, that indicate that the WTBTS is in decline.
1. In the twenty years from 1970 to 1990, the rate of yearly increase dropped from 10% to 6%. In the last 10 years it has dropped from 6% to about 2%. Since the world population growth is about 1.5% they are only growing at about 1/2 of 1% faster than the population.

2. In 1999, there were 21 large countries that showed a decline. In 2000, there were 22 such countries. These countries are in North America and Europe, plus Australia and Japan.

3. In almost all countries there has been a steady 10 year decline in the number getting baptized each year. The exceptions are in Asia, where the decline began 5 years ago, and in Africa, where there has not been a decline.

4. In the past four years, the average hours per publisher, world wide has declined about 15% and the number of Bible studies per publisher has declined about 20%.

In the 1940's they where the "fastest growing religion" and saw this as a fulfillment of Bible prophecy. They will probably see today's very different situation as a fullfilment of Bible prophecy as well.

Do you think the internet is partly resposible for this? What other factors are there, do you think?

This question acknowledges that the Jehovah's Witness religion continues to grow. Sadly, the so-called "facts" have been either invented, distorted, or cherry-picked to portray this admitted growth in a seemingly unfavorable light. How petty the whining of anti-Witnesses has become!

Please do not go to anti-Witness propagandists looking for information about Jehovah's Witnesses. For almost a decade now, the official websites of Jehovah's Witnesses have proudly and publicly published their nation-by-nation statistics along with other accurate information about them and their beliefs. No! They do not have the truth....I hold the internet responsible because it allows an opportunity for people to research such religions, but the internet isn't totally responsible. Other factors may be that people are realizing that Jehovah Witnesses don't teach sound doctrine and they therefore practice other religions. Maybe they used the internet for research to base their opinions. But the internet is a good thing. The internet enlightens minds.

They contend that the world will end "during" the Great War generation (that's world war ONE, 1914-1918) and there are only a couple of hundred WW1 veterans left alive.

Another stale, bounced, Armaggedon prophesy is fizzling.

So that's why they are shrinking faster than the Wicked Witch of the West after Dorothy splashed water on her.

The Mormons have a different and slightly less weird worship of hysteria that is still growing.

Those who have the truth aren't telling. If you get the truth, it is only because you take a vow of secrecy -- and that vow is only offered to those who will keep it. Sorry. No vacancy.

Yes, they have the truth and they have grown from a small Bible study group into what the Bible calls a "mighty nation" We have over six million servants of Jehovah worldwide in over 235 lands. At our Memorial celebration of Christ's death, over 11 million attended. We have God's backing and his holy spirit assisting us in our worldwide preaching work. This work could never be done without his blessing. We are fulfilling Bible prophecy by "preaching the good news of God's Kingdom in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all nations" We are the only faith doing that.

You have some great questions. I can tell you this, when God Word is not being told 100% according to the Bible - the people telling it will not last. Please check out the link below, teaching God's Word is a serious task - teaching His Word incorrectly will not go unpunished.

The story they tell at the door is just TOO THIN!

They have been around a long long time and have contradicted themselves too often.

Even the new image they recently started to put on is not work.

I PRAY FOR THEM to wake up!

One thing that they believe in is that heaven will be on Earth. Read John Chapter 14. Jesus said"I go to prepare a place for you....."
If Heaven was going to be on Earth, he wouldn't have had to leave.

I think each religious group thinks they "have the truth". Personally, I believe it to be a matter of interpretation.
