My girlfriend bought a highlighting kit cuz she wants to highlight my hair. I have medium blonde hair and she bought platinum highlights. Should i let her give me them? She bought a kit with a cap and we were wondering how she would use it to give me highlights?

Let her give them to you if that's what you want and she has experience. You put the cap on and she'll pull strips of your hair that should be highlighted through the cap and apply the highlights. Make sure she tests you hair after about 30 minutes and about every 5 minutes after that to check the color. After you have the color you want, take the cap off and rinse your hair thoroughly with water. Becareful. If she messes it up, you'll be stuck with the look or have to cut your hair so the highlights don't show.

To use it, put the cap on your head and then all your girlfriend has to do is take the little hook that comes with the kit and pull little strands of hair through the holes in the cap. Only those hairs will be the ones that get highlighted. Leave the dye on for about 30-45 minutes and you'll have your highlights.

Well....you would be putting yourself at some serious risk of getting spots and uneven highlights...but it could be fun, and they may turn out well!
Worst case scenario...you'll have to wait a long time for them to grow out. Most hair screw ups can be fixed by the professionals though.
Personally, I'd pay the money now, and get the highlights done professionally in the first place.

It's aways best to let a professional dye your hair. If your friend is inexperienced highlighting hair then it's a huge risk. You should take your kit to a hair salon and have the work done by a pro.

I don't know if you know but when you have highlights it can hurt when the person doing your hair pulls the hair through the cap. Also platinum may turn out GREY and you don't want to grey EARLY do you? lol

it depends on what you want. if you're ok with platinum highlights and trust your girlfriend then go for it! since you're a guy, if it turns out bad, it'll grow out quickly. but if you don't want to then tell your girlfirned that you'd rather not. she may be upset but if she loved you then she would understand that you like your hair wihtout highlights

I let my boyfriend Highlight my hair Once... it turned out ok.. not great but ok i could live with it but i rather do it myself next time =)

eekkkk, Platinum can go very wrong i you don't know what your doing! it could turn almost white or it could turn brassy. I would suggest cutting a small piece of your hair off, let the color take to it and then see how it will come out. if you like it then go for it.

i would take the one that you bought with the cap bak. if you can't take it back, then do not use it to pull your strands out--hurts like hell. instead, apply the colour/lifter and wrap small pieces of tin foil around the hair you want dies, works way better.
