I'm actually from the UK myself, born and bred here and excuse my mannerism, but I find this categorization of foreigners quiet offensive or maybe I don't really know what to make of it, fully understand it... or maybe I’m just missing something here?

Please explain further, thank you!

It wasn't offensive when it was first put into our laws long long before science fiction writers borrowed the term to apply to creatures from outer space.

The fact that it now has a secondary meaning doesn't change the original meaning of 'aliens' as being citizens of a foreign state. All of our laws use it, even the ones illegal immigrants are in favor of, such as the in state tuition benefit laws. It is a legal defiition.

The illegal part is their own choice, though. Why should we pad the corners on that?

It means that you are not here legally, a foreigner just like you. I am not saying you are illegal here but you are not from here, know what I mean? I'd like to chat with you some time, my man lives in London and I might move there. I wanna know what you can tell me about England. Cheers mate!

I think its kinda offensive to foreigners also, but I think the reason the say illegal alien is because if you come to the US without a visa or whatever then its called trespassing and your not suppose to do that its againt the law.

there are people who live in the United States who got here illegally. in order to be a legal resident, you have to register with the INS and go through alot of paperwork, and classes and stuff in order to be a resident.

some people who live here is here illegally because like, down in Mexico, life is not as good down there as it is up in the United States and they want a better life and they would do whatever it takes to get here and have a better life

What it means is someone from another country, living in USA or in any other country that isn't where the person is from, illegally/unofficially. Does England not have that prob, like the US does?
