Like me, Wiccan (the eclyctic branch-- pardon me if I spelled that wrong) and Atheist... is that strange, or unheard of, or are you the same way?

I was Atheist and am now Wiccan (or close to it). It was after having some "metaphysical" experiences I came to the Pagan point of view. I'm a strong advocate of evolution but also believe there is something in the metaphysical. So yes you can be torn between Atheism and and a religion - actually that would probably make you more of an Agnostic. At some point you will find something that points you more toward one or the other and then you can find where your path lays.

Yes, having beliefs that cover more than one religion is normal. That's why the term eclectic came about. I don't feel that all of the Wiccan rules are necessary, that's why I am a pagan, but not a Wiccan.

There are Christo-pagans, Jewitchs (Jewish and pagan), etc etc. Just find the mixture that is right for you.

btw, wicca denouncing God is new to me. Since when did that happen? I'm pretty sure never.

sun9.....: wicca is not pre-christian. it's a fairly new religion. Garderner and others started it.....around the fifties?

If by Atheist you mean that you don't believe in the God/gods of any major (or even minor) religion, then yes, perhaps you could describe yourself that way.

But if you believe in any kind of power(s), including whatever Wiccan beliefs you hold (pardon my ignorance on this part) then you can't label yourself an Atheist because you *do* have a belief system.

My daughter is 15 years old and she is two religions. She is Wiccan and Kemetic Orthodoxy. She can handle both of them. Now as far as being Atheist I don't know that you can do that and Wiccan since to be Wiccan you would have to worship Gods. Not the Christian God but Gods. Between the two I would pick Wiccan but that is me and my opinion.

you can have all the religions you want, Christians often point out to me that if I am wrong I go to hell but if I convert then I will go to heaven, and express this as making a "good bet". So if it is OK to do this as a "good bet" than it only makes sense to cover all the "bets" you can because they are for free. I personally intend to be a catholic protestant born again muslim hindu buddhist jainist practitioner of the wiccan faith shintoist atheistic satanic agnostic. I am sure that the program conflicts and file registry incompatibilities will be resolved by the time I die.

I wouldn't rule out the possibility of someone being torn between two religions. But you, my dear, are torn between a religion (Wicca) and the absence of all religion (atheism). Atheism is NOT a religion - it is characterized by disbelief rather than belief, there are no rituals or communities of faith, there is NOTHING to atheism save a lack of faith in God.

In this case, you can't be torn. Either you do believe in the principles of Wicca or you don't - there is no in-between. And if you can't decide, then call yourself an agnostic - a person who throws up his/her hands and gives up trying to know if God exists. Agnosticism, BTW, isn't a religion either.

Well all religions are the same so u cant really be in two at the same time! Wiccan is the older pre-christian religion based on mysticism. It is similar to Mystical buddhism, Mystical Christianity, Sufism (Mystical Islam) Hinduism et. al. As long as you are in touch with your inner self and the higher state you are OK!

Sure, you to TRY to serve two masters but sooner or later you have to choose. "No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other," (Mat 6:24) But don't let the words of Jesus stop you. After all you KNOW the he either never existed at all or he was a liar and a fraud.

Absolutly. Since we are left with no way of knowing if there even is a God at all, how are we truly to know whether one way or onther is right or wrong, when so many of them have just as many good points as bad.
