I have an ab lounge. When I first got it, I used it for about 15 minutes every day. I felt my belly start to tighten within a week and a half. The ab lounge however, will tone your abs, and yes, burn calories, but since its not aerobic exercise, it will burn less calories then say, walking or running would. I would suggest to read the manual though, and go by what that says. It should have come with a book to help decide on a diet plan, and a DVD on how to use the ab lounge. If you'd like more weight loss tips, here's a few more:


Drink at least 1/2 ounce of water per pound of body weight every day, with a minimum of 3 quarts daily.

Consistently eat a lighter, but more nourishing, diet. Do not eat food for fun; eat for health and to stay well.

Avoid junk food, fatty food, fried food, processed food, caffeine, nicotine, and soft drinks.

Do not skip meals. Make breakfast the largest, lunch a moderate meal, and supper the lightest.

When you end a meal, make it a habit to eat nothing more until you next meal.

Eat moderate amounts of raw citrus and subacid fruits, but no sweet fruits, such as grapes or dried fruits. No fruit juices, except diluted grape juice taken a half hour before the meal, to reduce appetite. No bananas.

Eat as much raw vegetables as you want.

The only cooked vegetables should be fresh and conservatively cooked ones. Do not use frozen, fried, or canned vegetables.

Primarily eat vegetarian protein foods, and in some moderation: beans, sprouted beans, seeds, nuts, etc.

All refined carbohydrates are forbidden. This uncludes sugar, alcohol, white-flour products, quick oats, most packaged cereals, and processed starch.

Eat only well-cooked, unrefined brown rice, barley, rye, millet, buckwheat, wheat berries, bulgur, corn, and other whole grains. Do not grind them, but cook and eat them in their natural state.

Use cold-pressed unsaturated oils, plus lemon juice, and possibly some herbs for flavoring.

Do not overeat, ever. It is a very, very bad habit to get into; it is a habit which can be stopped.

Do not eat between meals; that is another habit to quit.

When eating, concentrate on quietly eating and thinking about when you should stop. Do not just relax, talk, socialize, and eat and eat. Do not listen to the radio, read a book, or watch television. Stick to your work of eating lightly of nourishing food, and quit when you should.

You will not be harmed by finishing the meal a little hungry.

A regular exercise program is needed.

Aerobic exercises are better than other kinds. This simply means exercise done out in the open air. It helps lose weight; build strength; strengthen the heart, arteries, and veins; and invigorate the vital organs and endocrine glands.

Walking uses up to 120 calories per hour while actual jogging burns 440 calories per hour. Walking is always the best exercise.

Swimming is usually done in cold water, and this triggers the body to store extra fat as protection against the cold. So swimming does not help one lose weight.

To maintain weight loss (that is, an ongoing program of losing a little weight), calculate how many calories you need each day. Multiply your weight by 10. Then add 30% (about a third) to the total. This total is the amount of calories you can consume daily, without gaining the weight back which you have already lost. Assuming that you are moderately active, eating anything less than that total amount should cause you to lose weight.

I never was overweight till i had kids and thereafter, no matter how much i tried, spent lots of money worked out like hell but didn't loose weight. Well, I understand how u must feel when ppl call u fat esp ur granma. If it makes u happy call her an old bag. Tell ur frens to **** off. First things first, If God intended u to be slim he would have made u like that. If you go about cribbing about your appearance you will never achieve wot otherwise u can. Some ppl are not happy with their complexion, some with their hair etc. Your physical appearance doesn't determine the sharpness of ur mind. Look back in history and try determining if Einstein spent all the time gelling his hair.. he couldnt have written all those theories or invented anything. Secondly, u should focus on losing weight for good health and not because ppl call u fat. To **** with them. Losing 1-2 kgs a month should be an easy target so start with that. Eat whatever u want to. Just include lots of green vegetables and curd in ur diet. Dont go for stupid workouts.Instead have fun. Dance as much as u want. That is the best form of exercise and releases tension as well. Go play tennis with ur frens or ur dad even. Dont have unrealistic goals that u want to be slim in weeks or few months. U will always gain back weight if u loose more than 2 kgs a month. U can definitely loose more than that but try to loose just 2 kgs a month and work about ur weight loss for sure by loosing it slowly. No pain no gain... not necessarily having pain in gym. Losing weight should be a job for the patient ones.... have patience. Give yourself time. Asthma.... there are a few yoga positions which if followed religiously everyday, will definitely cure u forever. Believe me its possible to get rid of it. Give about half-an-hour to one hour everyday. Yoga will definitely help u with better concentration, weight loss and cure of asthma. Ask someone to teach you Pranayam. All the best.

NO, an ab lounge will help you gain muscle tone.

To lose weight your best bet i cardio and diet. Try running!

I do mine three or four times a week for about twenty minutes. I had to do some cardio to get rid of the flab so I could see my abs. *L* Good luck.

Use a vegetable bean dip including hummus instead of ranch dressing or maybe a fatty cream-based dip.

always have vegetables on hand saute a big bag of frozen mixed vegetables in olive oil and garlic add some red pepper or turmeric for additional flavor and separate into portion sized containers for the fridge
