Hmmm... would he prefer sharing, and free medical attention, or "more toys for me"?

Old Testament God is an authoritarian.

Autocratic, militant, extreme black and white world view, believed in harsh punishments and strict adherence to irrational rituals.

New Testament God varies. He can be a loving and forgiving God, or the angry Old Testament God back with a vengeance.

As such, in either case, I don't believe God would favor any form of economic system, he just wants to be unquestionably worshipped and gets mighty pissed if you don't worship him. He's sort of immaterial that way.

Worship me, or go to Hell. Pretty straight-forward.

Now Jesus would be a socialist.

Keep this quote in mind, "It's easier for a rich man to get through the eye of a needle than it is for him to get in heaven." And... he got really pissed about money changers at the temple. Just think how he'd react to a guy like Pat Robertson.

He was giving away free food, free healthcare, free advice, free counseling, and all sorts of things. Definitely not a capitalist.

Capitalism is about profit and exploiting people's lack of access to resources or services.

In greek mythology, I believe Hermes was the god of commerce. Perhaps capitalists should worship him.

The Ferengi from Star Trek worshipped a capitalist version of god. The more money you had, the greater chance you had of getting into Ferengi heaven.

I imagine the GOP must believe in a similar type of heaven. :)

Socialism

If God exists, I would imagine he wouldn't be so concerned with something that trivial.

But to answer....socialism if it was universally voluntary, otherwise capitalism. Socialism, in the sense of providing for others on the basis of need, would seem to be what God wants. But I think he would prefer capitalism if the socialist alternative meant forced collectivization, labor camps, seizure of earned property, etc.

Well if you compare the capitalistic countries and socialistic countries, I think capitalism wins just because of the corruption in socialism.

Capitalists covet. It drives capitalism.

socialism is usually associated with state or collective ownership.

I don't understand the difference. I don't think God gets too involved in politics anyway.
