I think what you need to do is just have a little more self disipline. I always had started things but never finished. What I do now is make to do lists. they usually are for each month. I take a look at this list every night when i get home for work and I decide which project I wanna do that night. I reward myself after working for so long or after completion. Oh and I always list things by importance and size of task.

It's best to break up the task in very small parts. It can be overwhelming to contemplate the whole task at once.

Also, here's an important tip. A lot of people want to wait until they feel like doing something before they do it. Bad plan. You see, people often feel like doing something once they start doing it. Emotion usually follows action. So, break it up into small pieces, get a good and realistic plan, and then just force yourself.

If the project, once completed, isn't a reward in itself, give yourself some POSITIVE reward for your accomplishment. And, don't be afraid of moving forward. NOTHING bad comes of it.

You could be easily distracted. When you start a project, actually force yourself to complete it. If you have to go the bathroom and are side tracked by some thing on TV force yourself to go back to the project. No matter what you have do, you are the one that has to mentally tell yourself to go back and finish. Not completing a task is a habit that you've acquired by doing it over and over. You can break it by not giving in to it now.

Good luck.

Is it possible that you have ADD or ADHD. Go online and look them up. See if you have any of the other symptoms. If so, then you might want to talk to a professional or your doctor about it. I have the same problem and wasn't diagnosed until I was in my 20's. Now I've got a handle on it and I don't always have to take medication to deal with it. Just a thought.
