get advantage or frontline..the bath is only going to kill the fleas on the pet at the time, it does not kill the eggs or other fleas that may be in the house..and the dog will just pick up more fleas everytime it goes outside. The flea meds will protect the dog from future fleas that will jump on him long after the bath is over.

I wouldn't even bother, it's a waste of your time. Get some advantage or advantix from your vet. Apply the first application right away. If they are heavily infested, then apply the next one 2 weeks later. This will kill all the fleas on your dog, as well as prevent them from getting any more. The nice thing about advangtage versus frontline or any of the other over the counter products is that it doesn't even allow the fleas/ticks to bite the dog. The moment a flea or tick gets on your dog, it gives them a hot foot affect. Immediately they want the fastest way out of there. However, it is extremely safe for your dogs. If you have cats you can use advantage on them as well (different tube, made for cats!) If you do, the best thing to do is apply it at night when everyone will be sleeping to allow it to soak in before anyone goes licking at it.

Well, shampoo is only temporary...You will need to use those wiles that have just enough liquid in them for the weight of your dog...You can find them at Walmart which would be the least expensive..or you can talk with your local vet and get them there. If they are from the vets...they always work the best...fleas are very irritating to your dogie...If the dog eats a flee it can get worms.

I've heard of a lot of people using dish liquid for fleas, my dad is one of them. But I always just get the drops that you put on the back of the dog's neck from the vet. But Hartz (not sure of spelling) has a pretty good shampoo.

Why don't you just go get the shampoo that's made for getting rid of fleas and such? It's really not that expensive.

IF IT'S FOR YOUR HAIR I WOULD JUST USE FLEA SHAMPOO FOR DOGS, DAWN IS FOR STRIPPING YOUR HAIR LIKE A COLOR YOU DON'T LIKE OR SOMETHING. IF ITS FOR THE DOG I'D GO GET ADVANTAGE AT SCHNUCKS OR WALGREENS AND THAT WILL TAKE CARE OF THEM.
