I mean do you believe god can use these tools to reach people, or heal through people like doctors.

No. The answerer above me is referring to the scripture in 1 Cor 13:8-20. The answer as to whether we will have this power today is answered in the same scripture. We have more knowledge and understanding of theBible than ever before. Therefore, performing miracles in order to get people to believe in the power of God, opposed to explaining the Bible to them in full, is unneccesary.

The real gift of tongues is still around. There are still people who recieve the gift of being able to speak in different languages they had never known before, in order to bring God's message to people "of other tongues".
The stage version made popular by the "Charismatic Movement" (you can learn more about this on TBN...Totally Blasphemous Network) never did exist. Don't fall for that nonsense about "Holy Spirit Baptism"...there is only ONE Lord, ONE faith, and yes, ladies and gentlemen, according to God's Word, only ONE (count them, one) Baptism.
There is no such thing as a Christian who is not "born again". That is what happens when the Living Lord moves into the person's life.
Yes, God can and does still heal, sometimes by a direct miracle (although He never did do that as much as people think He did, think how many sick, blind, crippled, etc He did NOT heal, but who love Him just the same), and sometimes through dedicated doctors and nurses.
There is NOTHING the Lord cannot do in the lives of the people who love and trust in Him...

Tongues and healing are powerful tools in the church today. The reason that many Christians do not believe in them is because their faith has been comprimised. They are at a church where they do not operate in these gifts or the power of God. So, they are in a atmospere where they are contained to just being religious (somtimes). I have seen the the healing power of God working in my own life and the lives of others for 11 years now. In addition, I have seen the power of tongues work in the behalf of salvation to the lost as well as my own life.

When I received the gift of the Holy Ghost, I spoke in an unknown tongue.
I can understand why it may seem strange- but it absolutely happened!
The gift of tongues is given to someone that has already received the Holy Ghost. It is to be interpreted by someone that has the gift of interpretation, and it is for the uplifting of the Church.
I have been healed myself, also, so I definetely believe in healing also.
I don't believe there's anything wrong with going to a Dr., though. Luke was "a great physician".

Speaking in tongues can frighten the uninitiated and thus be counter-productive in reaching them. I do not categorically dismiss the practice but do not chose to attend where it is as I believe I would find it a distraction to the corporate worship which is the reason for attending.

The Lord heals daily, with and without, and sometimes despite, the use of doctors.

This subject is a long one. but to keep it short I will say , Tongues means Languages And all languages can be understood by some one, this is the purpose for the tongues spoken of in Corinthians, and it is also why the Bible directs there to always be an interpreter , if this language is directed at some one there they will understand it, if not then they are to keep silent.

But the Utterance given through the Holy spirit, is between your Spirit and God and is not understood by any one, but the Holy Spirit of God. This is the enlightening of your Soul or mind it gives you understanding and revelations.
.
as for the Healing, this is the work of Christ , And it will be given to you according to your Faith.

Speaking in tongues and healings are both gifts of the spirit. God can and does use doctors. I believe that docs can and are used by God and that He gives them the ability to do what they do.But I have also been healed by Him as have family members without the use of medication. All He asks for is the faith to believe that He can and will do it. There is alot of fakes out there so we really need discernment knowing what is really God and what is not.>>>HUGS>>>

Yes, and Yes maybe.

Healing through Doctors, through modern medicine isnt really healing through faith. But on the other hand, God provided man with the knowledge and tools they needed TO heal someone, so in a way it kinda is.

Speaking in tongues and healing is possible but not doing them to convert.

FAQ: Why aren't more miracles done to convert people to Christianity?

"When only a miracle leads a person to acknowledgment of God and to adoration and piety, he acts from the natural and not the spiritual man. For a miracle infuses belief by an external and not an internal way, thus from the world and not from heaven. The Lord enters man by an internal way, by the Word and by doctrine and preaching from it. As miracles close this way, no miracles are done today" (Divine Providence n. 131).

Man is not brought by external means to think and will, thus to love and believe what pertains to religion, but the man brings himself and compels himself to do so. Self-compulsion is not contrary to rationality and freedom. (Divine Providence n. 129).

"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me."

-- Rev. 3:20 KJV

Miracles do not induce faith. "That miracles are of this nature can be clearly established from those performed in the presence of the people of Judah and Israel. Although they beheld many miracles in the land of Egypt and later at the Red Sea and others in the Wilderness and particularly on Mt. Sinai when the Law was promulgated, nevertheless, in a month's time while Moses tarried on that mountain, they made themselves a golden calf and hailed it as Jehovah who had led them out of the land of Egypt (Ex 32:4-6). Again, it is plain from the miracles done later in the land of Canaan; nevertheless the people fell away time and again from the prescribed worship. It is equally plain from the miracles which the Lord did before their eyes when He was in the world; yet they crucified Him. (Divine Providence n. 132).

Speaking in tongues is a spiritual gift from God, (there are several spiritual gifts), not every one has this gift...

It is very Biblical... Paul was talking to the Corithians about spiritual gifts, so obviously they were not ment for only the disiples...

1 Corinthians chapter 12 speaks of God given spiritual gifts... among these are...

Wisdom...

knowledge...

Faith...

Healing...

Miraculous powers...

Prophecy...

Disernment...

Tongues...

and Interpretation of tongues...

all of theses are gifts and given to each one by God... not everyone has the same gift....

UNFORTUNATLY... many people are False CHristians, they can fake certain things and get money like TV evagelist and cons, and other things....

But these gifts are real and are still given today by God...

Many Christians are uncomfortable with the fact of tongues or healing and they say that it is unbiblical, or they are uncomfortable with them.......... but they are Biblical and they are real and given to modern day Christians....

BUT our hope in Christ, not in signs and feelings and wonders...

God can use any of these things to reach people, and He can use doctors and other people and even you and me... But the thing that all Christians are to do is....

to witness, tell others about what Jesus did to save us... and to love one another... as Christ loves us...

God bless you and your family
