I heard or read somewhere that before Eve there was a woman called Lillith... She was (supposedly) created from the same stuff as Adam, but there was a problem with her and she was removed from Eden... Then the rib was taken from Adam to create Eve... Was there a woman before Eve???

So Lilith did exist, and so was kicked out of paradise for speaking her own mind... Seems a good idea... And a more "placid" woman was created... ;)

Yes in the totah there is a Lilith. She was cast out because she would speak her own mind and not do everything that Adam (pbuh) said.

Question: "Who was Lilith / Lillith? Does the Bible say anything about Adam having another wife before Eve?"

Answer: There are un-Biblical legends that Adam had a wife before Eve who was named Lilith. The legends vary significantly, but they all essentially agree that Lilith left Adam because she did not want to submit to him. According to the legends, Lilith was an evil, wicked woman who committed adultery with Satan and produced a race of evil creatures. None of this is true. There is no Biblical basis whatsoever for these concepts. There is no one in the Bible named Lilith. Genesis chapter 1 does not record the creation of Lilith with Genesis chapter 2 recording the creation of Eve. Rather, Genesis chapter 2 is a "closer look" at the creation of Adam and Eve as recorded in Genesis chapter 1. The Bible specifically says that Adam and Eve were the first human beings ever created (Genesis 1:26-28; 2:18-25). This "Lilith" myth is popular in some radical feminist movements because Lilith is an example of a woman refusing to submit to male headship.

She is a fable. The name Eve means "The Mother Of All Living." "The mother of all living what?" you ask, "Human Beings" is the answer. Lillith is not mentioned in Scripture, and is from early folklore, used to deceive people in regards to Scriptural Truth. Satan wants people focused on anything but the Truth of God's Word. If a thing is not found in The Holy Bible, then it's origin is dubious at best. If there were another linage of mankind then then Adam's Sin would not have caused Sin to be passed on to all Mankind. Even if there were such a person (which there isn't) the linage would have died out in the Flood of Noah's Day. Only the line of Seth was preserved from the worldwide Flood.

Yes, you're right: there were plenty of females & males before the arrival of Eve.

Actually, according to scientists, Eve was a Homo Erectus, hybrid between monkey and modern human :-)

Yes, Adam was a typical male he cheated on his wife, blamed her for his downfall and wouldn't take out the trash. I dated a guy named Adam same thing...except he wouldn't eat my cooking (smart man)

I believe that is gnostic in basis. No, as far as my faith, no there was just Eve. Research gosticism, it'll tell you where that idea came from.
