NEVER EVER use ANYTHING made by Hartz or Sargeant's on any of your pets. They use extremely dangerous chemicals in all of their products that have killed many animals. If you are ever unsure of a product, call up your veterinarian and ask them about it.

Yes, I have heard this and had some personal experience as well.

4 years ago, my roommate bathed my pug while I was out of town and unknowingly put a hartz flea & tick product on him. It almost killed him because he had an allergic reaction to some toxic ingredient. (Can't remember what exactly it was, but it is a derivitave of chrysanthemums...?) $500 dollars at the emergency vet and a horrible experience. The vet said Hartz is known for these adverse reactions and several pets die every year because of it. He recommended only using vet approved flea & tick meds and ultra mild shampoos. My dog has had skin problems ever since, so I use baby wash on him...

Don't buy Hartz, throw out all of their products if they are in your house... Good luck.

You should not because of the simple reason that they are not regulated by the Food and Drug Administration- like advantage and frontline. Products not regulated have not necessarily been tested on animals, the ingredients that are listed are not the necessarily the ones used and there is no recourse if something happens to your pet while on the product. We have seen way too many cases of dogs and cats going into seizures after the owners have applied the "medicine." If they make it, they are never the same.

None of Hartz products are any good for any type of animal. I only trust Advantage for dogs or cats.
