President Ronald Reagan called the attack a "despicable act" and pledged to keep a military force in Lebanon. Secretary of Defense Caspar Weinberger said there would be no change in the U.S.'s Lebanon policy. Reagan said "We will stay." U.S. Vice President George Bush toured the marine bombing site on October 26 and said the U.S. "would not be cowed by terrorists."

. President Reagan assembled his national security team and planned to target the Sheik Abdullah barracks in Baalbek, Lebanon, which housed Iranian Revolutionary Guards believed to be training Hezbollah fighters. But Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger aborted the mission, reportedly because of his concerns that it would harm U.S. relations with other Arab nations. Plus it was said the Marines were scared to death to go up against the big bad Insurgents so the USA tucked their pride away and "cut and Ran" like the cowards the Marines are. Reagan said he knew we could not win against the Insurgents so we ran like hell.

The US military does not 'cut and run'. The politicians who control the military do.

E-a million, E-2 etc through E-9. then you honestly have WO-a million, WO-2 and WO-3. After that, you've O-a million, O-2 etc through O-10. Now, in case you go with to understand what those skill, it may remember on the dep. of service you're speaking about. interior the Air rigidity, you've Airman consumer-friendly, Airman, Airman very good, Sergeant, team Sergeant, Technical Sergeant, carry close Sergeant, Senior carry close Sergeant, and finally chief carry close Sergeant. Then the WO's or warrant officials, yet there are not any interior the Air rigidity, changed into, yet no longer to any extent further. The for officials, you've 2d Lieutenant, First Lieutenant, Captain, major, Lieutenant Colonel, Colonel, Brigadier established, major established, Lieutenant established, and finally established. each branch of the protection rigidity has their own names for each paygrade, notwithstanding the paygrades are all a similar.

The Military when all is said and done just followed the orders of the President and the Politicians. You have a problem with why the USA looks so cowardly to you...ask that of your politicians, not the Military.

Again the USA does not always cut and run...it depends on how much popularity the President at the time is prepared to lose/gain.

It's all political, the most important thing in politics is to have good rating ant thus power, and when you have power you can do whaterver the hell you want, and keep regular working class missinfomed and manipulated. If they lost a lot of troops they would lose rating...(Vietman taught a good lesson, It's hard to bully a country around for no actual reason)

What the problem is? The military always cuts and runs after 241 soldiers were killed in 1983? How many times has this happened? .....the "always" part is confusing to me....but that's just me.

i remember the beirut bombing and i think that the public was highly critically during those times. i dont think that we cut and run because if you havent noticed our troops are still in the middle east. we have even had a suicide bomber that blew themselves up in one of the base mess halls over there so i beg your pardon. the hezbollah conflict is not our fight, we support israel but we also cannot lose the support of all of our muslim allies.

Yea right, like the Secretary of Defense can override the president.

You didn't think about this before you posted it.

ok i'm not sure what country you are, but you need to get a life, the us. does not always tuck and run, i'm guessing you are probably from a country that wouldn't know how to win a war if you were given the capital city.

Uhmm, I would hazard a guess at One?

It sounds like that story is fraught with dislike towards the US Military, and I'm sure it didn't go down like that...
