well, guess they are afraid of hurting you..... foolish, I know, but some people think it's ok to just disappear than to be honest....I personally don't agree, I think that honesty is always the best policy....

It's a little thing called "cowardice." Be glad they took off because had they hung around you would be subjected to the backlash of their passivity again and again.

So many parents have done a grave dis-service to their children and society by not teaching forthrightness and honor.

I am sorry for your pain; I know that what I have said does not make it any easier. If you need closure you can write a letter either for symbolic purposes or to actually mail. If you are going to mail it, wait 24 hrs. and re-read it before posting. Make sure you have said what you wanted to say while keeping your dignity intact. Because, despite how you feel right now, these closure- thieves cannot take that from us unless we surrender it voluntarily. Stay strong and if you don't, forgive yourself.

Best wishes for rapid healing. Next time proceed with caution. There are an awful lot of reptiles-disguised-in-human-f l e s h out there. Time and perspective are our only meters.

Sometimes it's out of fear afraid of hurting another's feelings not realizing that's the worst thing that they can do and will hurt far more than telling a person. Then there are those where they have no consideration or feelings or even care if the hurt someone as long as they are doing what they want

maybe he/she thinks you are too sensitive to handle a straight forward break up. And maybe in an effort to really spare your feelings, they just disappear. Not the best way to handle it of course.

Break of is not easy, especially when you tell the other person and the other person gets emotional and might end up in the Hospital.

obviously, they either don't have the guts or they just don't want to deal with the drama. Simply means they are more interested in their own feelings rather than yours. You obviously are better off without them - even if it hurts.

Probably because they don't know any better. They think that if they just leave without saying anything it will save them from having to tell you one on one.

I never understood that approach at all and it's happened to me. All the guy would have to do is say...I'm not interested and I would have been saved alot of grief and embarassment. There is alot to be said for honesty. Thanks for bringing this up.

Because it's an uncomfortable situation and one some people avoid at all costs. I think it stinks, but that's just me.
