Yes. Well, I teach vocational education (career studies). I get to teach students how to behave at work, in the community, etc. They learn what is expected of them and how to achieve this. I also reward them nicely. That goes over well.

And to this day, I have students walking up to me years later (when I barely recognize them...and worse, can't remember their name) just to thank me for teaching them these skills.

It's highly rewarding! I love it.

I agree...it is a parent's place to teach this. However, it take a village! A lot of students need to hear the same thing from different people before "it" registers.

of course every teacher should enjoy teaching their students how to behave in public because its their job to do so.a teachers job or work does not end in the teaching of class work but also laying a good example for the the students to follow.a teacher wont be happy to see his or her student mis behaving out said.and a teacher wil always be proud to see his or her student been known for behaving well in pulic.this teacher goes"thats my boy or girl".but to round this up,not all teachers even notice that or think is part of their job to do so

No, teachers don't enjoy this task. It is one that should have already been taught at home by the parents. Today's teachers must teach children more and more things that parents have ignored at home. When parents find it easier to just give in to their child's wants and desires it makes it harder and harder on the teachers and other students in the class. Parents need to treat their children as just that - children. They aren't toys and they aren't your friends. Use discipline and teach them right from wrong before they get to school.

As a school's disciplinarian, I think that is the most aggrevating part of a teacher's job. They don't want to have to teach children how to behave. That is the responsibility of the parents.

I think some of them do and some of them don't . It is the responsibility of the parents at the first place. But how to behave in front of a large audience is something different. Some can do it with no learning at all, but most of us have to learn it from somebody and we need a lot of practice.

Not really. They'd much rather teach students the subject matter that they are trained and certified to teach.

Besides, isn't that a parents' job?

As a teacher I wouldn't say I enjoy doing it, but I think it's necessary. Some of my students think that "****" and "the" can be used interchangably.
