Mirgation patterns have not changed much in the past century. There is a slow but definite invasion/colonization taking place as the economiclly displaced venture north in search of greener pastures. Where the political boundries lay on a map is irrelevant to the pull of trading hardships now in hope of future gain, if not in this generation then certainly in the next. The former teritories of Mexico retained the colonial populations after anexation by the US. A perfect core of like culture to make an imigrant's assimilation nearly seamless. We like to call it occupied Mexico out here in southern california. Not being facetious, we are an occupying force and we're growing :-)

You ignorant folks out there that think the USA territories were taken either from Indians or Mexicans need to go back to school.
Let me pose a question for you to ponder.
If there is some land some place ...and there are no humans living on it and using it ...does that land belong to someone?
Now, some folks come along looking for a better place to hunt, fish and pick berries and stumble onto this land and no one is there to stop them so they start doing their thang there.
Now, another group of people come along, and they are bigger and badder than the first group and the they take away the land of the first ones to come along ...and so on and so on.
Who's the REAL owner of that land?
I propose that the one's that are able to KEEP CONTROL over that land are the rightful owners. The law (USA) says so in so many words as well.
So, the end to this story is that, if we as US Americans, (nice as we are to enslave you folks that come here illegally to do our funky stuff for us and) let you think you are making a killing here so you can have huge families and take over our country; that is to gain control over it, we got no one to blame but ourselves.
Being mislead apparently, that USA is a country of law and order (call me old fashion) I resent you Juan Come Lately's thinking you own the place quite yet. Others like me feel similarly.
That's why you all are going back to where you came from very soon. We ain't going to give up control without a tussel, see! (tough guy look on my face).
I can see where there could be some confusion in this for you and others. But the fact is, we are being just too nice to you illegal folks and it's time to end it, cuz you are all deluded and acting like loons. To wit: Day without a Gringo March and your jumping the border and general criminal mischeif carrying on's while in the USA.
The party is over.
Have a nice day!

No it does not belong to the Mexican people.

America bought the Southwest off of Mexico.

Henceforth the Southwest belongs to Saxony not Mexico

O.K. I don't really understand why you think that. If you look at any map it clearly belongs to the United States down to the Rio Grande.

My neighbor has a gorgeous house and I truly think I belong in it more than they do...

Will you come over and help me invade the gorgeous house and take what I want? Oh yes, they should stay and make the payments for me 'cause I can't afford such a gorgeous house...will you make them stay and pay for the mortgage?

...While you're at it, tell them I'd like Prime Rib for dinner.....

PLEASSSSEEEEEE!

Mexicans are Americans, too. So are Canadians and even Cubans. What's your problem? (Also Venezuelans, Colombians, Bolivians, Brazilians, etc. But not Jamaicans, mon, they be Jamaican, don't you know.)

Where do you want to go?
