Because Christians see Jesus as being extremely egotistic, to the point of egomania. They see his dad as even more pompous, so insecure and jealous that he sends people to everlasting hellfire for not bowing down and worshipping him. In other words, while they say they believe in a perfect Jesus and a perfect 'God', they don't.

A prayer to Jesus is a prayer to the Living God not a spirit.

A prayer to the 'spirit world', is opening up a can full of worms. We have no idea who or what we are communicating with and it is usually evil.

because according to the Bible, Jesus is the ultimate authority in the entire spirit world. so a prayer to him goes straight to the source, rather than anywhere else. plus, there are positive forces and negative forces (ones that would do you harm) in the spirit world, so you don't want to offer up a prayer to anyone other than jesus for that reason.
that's my understanding of it; i hope it helps!

Jesus said, " I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father but through Me" (John 14:6) If we want our prayers answered we must pray in the name of Jesus Christ. We are not fit to come into the presence of a Holy God; and this includes even approaching Him in prayer.
But since Jesus shed His blood on the cross for our sins, once we have opened our heart to Him as Lord and Savior, we are fit to come to the Heavenly Father. Have you placed your trust in Christ as your personal Savior? If not, why don't you do that today? Christ died on the cross for you. He rose from the dead for you. This is how much He loves you. Make your first prayer be one asking Christ to come into your heart. He has promised, "whoever comes to me I will never drive away" (John 6:37)
Here's another verse on prayer that I love: "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him" (1st John 5:14-15)

Jesus is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. The spirit world is the spirit world, and not all of the spirits are benign.

I Don't know maybe because the spirt world isnt Jesus's permenant residence - since he isn't exactly dead and all - and so he can only pick up the prayers when he visits and it takes much longer for them to be answered as a result and who knows whoz reading them and formulating some melevolant plan to foil them.

Jesus is a mediator between us and the dead. Because he overcame death and sin He and only He can mediate prayers to our Father in Heaven. Even Jesus prayed in our behalf to our Heavenly Father showing us by example.

We pray to God in the Name of Jesus Christ.

Like this:

Dear Heavenly Father

Thank you for the Joy you gave me today when I was playing with my son.

I ask you to please help me to be able to enjoy more moments like today so we can build a close relationship.

I say these things,

In the Name of JESUS CHRIST
AMEN

:)

We can speak to those in the spirit world and pray for them. We can have the dead in our hearts. It is best to acknowledge Jesus at all times as he acknowledged us in His sacrifice and atonement.
