I am wanting to start a pet sitting business but am trying to decide on prices. I would take care of any species, and any number. Any ideas on what to charge and how to arrange it?

The best routes to take are to research the process of starting a business as well as the industry you're interested in.

I recommend checking out the SBA, Entrepreneur, The Start Up Journal & Nolo. All 4 are great informational resources for the new/small business owner. I posted links for you in the source box.

Associations may be a good avenue to explore as well. These organizations will address many of the thoughts, questions and concerns you'll inevitably have as well as many you haven't anticipated yet. See the source box for some relevant links.

Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can about the industry. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

* The Face in the Window: A Guide to Professional Dogwalking by Dianne Eibner
* Entrepreneur Magazine's Start Your Own Pet Sitting Business by Cheryl Kimball
* The Professional Pet Sitter: Your Guide to Starting and Operating a Successful Service Edition 2005 Newly-Revised Includes Business Forms by Lori Mangold

There are plenty of free informational resources out there. Check the source box for links to articles.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

Depends on your qualifications... I would start with $10 an hour but offer 1/2 hour visits... and cater to individual needs... IE ... a cat really only NEEDS a drop in once a day... so roughly that would be $ 5 a day for a 1/2 hour a day...but give them the option of more time...

You should check and see if there are other dog walkers and pet sitters in your area and find out what is the going rate. You can offer a special discount, 1 free walk after every 10 that are paid for, stuff like that.

Depends on the time or distance you want to walk the dogs individually. 10 per hour or 25per hour. Don't charge too much. Less than 30 bucks is fine.
