We put our dog on her leash then sat down on the floor with both of them. We controlled how close our dog could get to the kitten by keeping a tight reign on her leash. They were both curious of the other one. We just kept petting our dog to keep her from barking as she tried to get close enough to smell the kitten. It didn't take too many times of doing this before they started feeling comfortable with each other.

Well...i think it wouldve been best if you had a cat when the dog was young so it would be use to it from a young age. I would just watch the dog very carefully & never leave a kitten alone with the dog. I once had a cat who had a litter of kittens & I accidently left my bedroom door open, dog got in there and killed all but 1 kitty...only because he was on the bed and also..looked like the dog..but thats a whole notherstory...

depending on the type of dog they may never---you might try putting your dog on his/her back and holding or placing the kitten over them--(called a dominant stance) you will have to hold the dog down during this process so they understand it's not up to them(you may need an extra set of hands)--do this repeatedly until the dog understands. it may take some time--also, play with the dog and cat together on their level(lay on the floor) hold the dog there if you have to, and play with both try and place the kitten close to or on the dog as you do.....try to get the dog and kitten playing together as a full grown dog does with a puppy..

I think I was lucky with my dog, she loves anything.

But the cat was a little difficult. What I did was put them in her kennel together and left them there for about 2 hours everyday for a week. They both were at seperate ends, but they were forced to be together.

At the end of the week they didnt mind each other and in about a month they were best friends. I recently got another cat and since they had been through this before I just threw him in the mix and everything has worked out.

Well, I have a golden retiever and we just got a kitten 3 months ago. I introduced them gradually. I held my kitty in my arms and kneeled down a bit and said, it's ok girl! Just take it slow and they will be great friends!

Thats hard...depends how old your dog is, when they are both babies, its easier, All you have to do is put them some where together, see how they react to eachother being there, if they fight, then you should punish both of um.
