Not at all! Jesus went to a wedding, and partied with the crowd, celebrating the couple's joy! As someone else said here, He gave us a day of rest, so that we can enjoy life and take it easy. It is a matter of balancing work with play.
To many people work on their days off. Many have no joy, because they never get rest. We do need the time away from "stuff" just so we can get a grip.

Where did you get the idea it wasn't to ever be comfortable or pleasurable? That's crazy!
Sure, there are sometimes periods of difficult work dealing with emotions, learning what God says through study and other things. There are also times of growth and stretching where God asks me to do things that are not comfortable, or talk to people about things they are doing that are not good for them that I could be rejected for or mistreated for addressing no matter how gently I approach them. But there are also times of great joy, and fun and times of great feelings of satisfaction and love for my fellow man.
Being a christian is not some funky or weird mystical existential experience. When you get "saved", God does not pour on the Holy Ghost pixie dust and expect you to become so over the top spiritual that you are no earthly good.
Believing is Christ is like a centipede turning on a dime. First the head turns and then as each segment reached that spot it too turns. My point is that very little changes at first except intent, and belief. That is why we have so many blustery Christians running around. Those have not matured and all the baggage they had when they got saved they still have. This is not bad, there is a process of maturing that needs to take place - that's all.

Nothing matches being with my brothers and sisters at a barbecue, laughing, singing and having a good time with each other. Of course we play and relax and have fun. It is a matter of pursuit. What you are you pursuing in life? Pleasure, a comfortable life, or following Christ no matter what may come? Christianity is not for the weak, faint hearted or soft, there is hardship for sure, but the joy of celebrating our savior together is unmatched in any other realm.

Who said this, "Living a Christian life isn't supposed to be comfortable and pleasurable right?"?
I take a great deal of pleasure in my life, especially about being a true believer!

The answer to this very question can be found in the bible.
At the very beginning of Jesus ministry, he was at a marriage celebration and feast. Right here, you can see that having fun was not just allowed but encouraged.
These feasts would usually run a few days, not just a few hours after the wedding!!
So, yes, work, rest and relaxation (fun) are all found and as long as all three are used for GODs glory, you are fine.

Actually, work is as much a trap as play is. And Christ knew this. What was meant is that "Everything in MODERATION." Anything in this life can become a trap, from food, to wine, to women, to song, to dance, etc. What we as individuals have to do is be on CONSTANT WATCH OF OURSELVES (and to be honest) we're still the last ones to see and admit to ourselves when WE have a problem because we don't like to admit, do we? So we need to be on vigil and guard ourselves so as not to fall into the worldy traps, be kind and love and appreciate and hold close to your wife and children. Talk to God and thank him for Christ daily and realize that no matter what you owe or how much, LIFE IS WONDERFUL!!! It doesn't matter, even if you lose everything your still ahead of so many others just with your families love and happiness.
Its all in your attitude. You still have your Church and family. Good luck.

You don't understand. God created you to be just like you are. He loves you just like you are. He wants to guide your life because He alone knows you the best and loves you the most.
He wants you to know this so badly. Do you remember the old church song, "Just As I Am". That is exactly how He wants you to come to Him.
The play/work choice has nothing to do with it. What if He provides you with a way to play all the time? If that would be best for you He would make your life that way.
You go to Him just as you are and let Him work out all the details.

That's not true...God wants us to enjoy ourselves...and to be blessed with finer things in life. Who told you that you were suppose to be uncomfortable and pleasure-less? He just doesn't want us to engage in things that are worldly...and not of Him....but you can have nice things and money. IN the new testament he talks about storehouses put up for his people...sorry that I can think of the verse right now...but all you need to remember is that all good things come from God...but you can't have them for nothing...gurl you got to do a lil work...go take the trash out or something :)

Of course we should play.
In fact, we of all people, can be like little children, we have a great big daddy that is going to take care of us.
God has a job for us to accomplish while on this earth, but all work and no play, is not God's way.
Peace, joy, comfort, love, happiness, laughter, singing. Does that sound like all work and no play?

It's not all work and no play, not at all. The point is to be able to be content in the good times and the bad. Life is hard work, whether you believe in God or not; For me, living a Christian life means to be content as I mentioned, and to thank God every day, even if it's a crappy day, and to trust Him with every aspect of my life at all times. It is hard, because our human nature is selfish, but the rewards in Heaven are worth it, to me.
