If you are in the States on a student (F1) visa, you can't work off campus, unless you ask for a special permit, but you'll have to prove that you are going through financial hardship. Contact the international student office at your college/university for more info. But you can apply to internships. You can take an art related internship, especially if you are an art student. The only downside: most internships aren't paid, and they require you work even a minimum of 20 hours per week while school is in session.
