But what is nice is when you finally polish that vase on your dressing table and find £23 in it like I did last week! (PS I didn't confess to my husband..this was his long forgotten safe place!) Lol

Try using a trick to help remember where it is, such as association. If you can come up with a good reason why something should be in a certain place, you'll remember that place. Example; you put your birth certificate under your bed because you think to yourself, 'lots of people are conceived on beds and many babies are born on them'. However strange your mental connection, as long as it make sense to you you'll remember it when you want that birth certificate. Maybe you could have just one safe place for all documents, then one other safe place for another category of items. Simplify and put things in safe places that make sense to you. If your really disorganized in general you'll have to simplify your situation of placement for things you want safe. Good luck.

I do the same thing too and walk into a roof and forgot what i'd gone in there for!!!!
I find my memory is a bit rubbish but as i'm trying to think and do so many things at once i don't concentrate for long enough so try thinking about the thing and where you've put it over the next couple of hours/days after putting it away it does help.
Take care

Because you clearly have more than one safe place. My other half has this problem too, if you be persistant and always places your keys by the phone, then you should have no problem remembering where you put it. If you put them in the pot by the flowers, then you will somehow forget it and never be likely to remember.

Its because you put it in a safe place - and probably in a very reasonable and sensible place as well. These aberations cause much anxiety in my life. I have special hangers around the house for things like my purse, my keys. Everything else lives in freeflow, and I can find some of it some of the time.

That also happens to me a lot of times....
And I know that sometimes even though you try as hard as you can to remember it, but it just doesnt seem to work....
Am I correct?
Well It just just happens that I came up w/ a theory.... :D
"Sometimes when you need something mostlly at that time, you'll eventually lose it & cant remember where you've put it. But it just happens that when your not in need of that object you'll eventually find it (maybe laying around some where in your house)"
But thats just a silly theory of mine....
Now adays when I know I had put my belongings in a safe place & cant remember where it is, I just simply:
1. Try to tidy up & look under, around, & over, every obsticles in that of your surroundings
(starting with your room)
2. Try to think of a place where you wouldn't even think of looking for in the first place... usually thats where you hide(put) it.... maybe it could be under the tv (where i once put my savings), under the matres of your bed, or even on the highest point of your room (maybe you put it on top of you wordrobe)....
3. Ask the people in the house if thay have ever seen it (what youve just lose)
IMPORTANT: do not do no.3 first... believe me i've tride it... and in the end i just got scold for not looking first! :P
4. And if even no. 3 doesnt work, I would just surrender to my luck....
(for me it worked, when I hide my MMC (very small) under my printer and thought that i had lost it, after 1 weak when i accedentally moved my printer, i found it layin there... what a miracle)
But just for future references, you shouldnt put your belongings to far from you.... and always have 1 safe, hidden, and only you know place to put your (maybe) personal belongings....
Or if you have a (maybe) short memory (like me, OMG!!) you should put it in a place where youll easlly notice it (and maybe make a habbit of putting it there so youll never forget, because its been a rotine for you to put it there) or even have a trusty person to remember it for you (for me its SOMETIMES my mom), thats just for an incase you are to forget again....

if it's hidden in such a safe place that even you can't find it then that's good. Sounds like a good way to save money.
It also sounds like a memory problem, or what you hid wasn't that important or you'd have remembered where you put it.
