Tell him he can stay out of whatever place the statue is kept.
after all it is not his statue. he does not have to like or dislike every thing that you do. and vice versa.

It's YOUR statue, and it's from YOUR great great grandfather. It seems to me it's none of your boyfriends business! Boyfriends aren't suppose to run your life, you know. Besides, you'll have tons of boyfriends after this one is gone. And only ONE antique statue from your great great grandfather. If you HAVE to CHOOSE between the two, although I can't figure out WHY you would, I'd choose the statue!

If this is your first boyfriend then odds are you will care about the statue a lot longer than you care about him. If it bugs him so much try putting it somewhere out of the way. If he still complains then ditch the loser. There are a lot of guys out there looking for girlfriends and most of them couldn't care less about the decorations in your home.

If this is your first boyfriend and he trying to control you by disliking a family heirloom..... Hug the statue and dump him!!!! If you stay with him, it will only get worse, and you will be completely controlled by him. If this is his very immature and screwed up way of making you declare your love for him, he needs to grow up before he has a girlfriend. You deserve better. When you love someone, it is unconditional, no matter material possessions they have.
