The easiest answer is - whatever works.

Anxiety disorders have lots of different drugs because no one drug works for every person. We don't really understand the brain chemistry well enough to understand why certain drugs work better than others, but it probably has to do with individual variations in neuronal receptors, efficacy at crossing the blood-brain barrier, and clearance (detoxification) from the system. All of these factors can vary from individual to individual, therefore a drug that works well for a friend of yours may not work well for you. On the other hand, several drugs may work for an anxiety disorder you may have - its all a process of determining which is best. Talk to your doctor, examine your options. If one drug gives you bad side-effects, ask if there are alternatives. It all comes down to what you can live with in the end.

I've taken Zyprexa (not really an antianxiety drug, but my dr. put me on it anyway) and I didn't like it much (it made me sleepy during the day), and I also have Xanax for emergencies, but it makes my stomach hurt a lot and I don't like it much. I'm on BuSpar (buspirone) every day and it works pretty well. It seems like I took something else, but I can't remember the name and it wasn't that great, anyway. I took Zoloft for a little while, but the side effects were so bad every time I increased the dosage that I couldn't get to an effective level to treat my anxiety. It's not an anti-anxiety drug per se, but it can be used to treat anxiety.

This is a question that should be asked of a physician who knows the history of the patient. What works great for one may not work for another and sometimes, one needs a combination of drugs. Physical issues need to be addressed also to make sure something isn't counter productive or harmful depending on the body's chemistry and medical history.

First of all, you have to come to the realization that anxiety isn't a disorder. Pharmaceutical companies say it is so that you clumsy Americans can put money into their pockets. Don't believe me? Why is it that now, all of a sudden, obesity is a disease and wasn't just 10years ago? Don't believe the "hype" buddy

Drugs are not the answer. A natural plant sterol is what you need.

It puts the hormones balance.

Information about it is on my product link on my page.
