I am american and have a mexican boyfriend who is illegal her he works, pays taxes and is not a criminal also I have a two year old with another man that my boyfriend help support and raise he is just like a father to her and he also takes care of me before i met him I was on welfare and now I don't need all that stuff. We talked to a lawyer and they said that we could marry and they would give him a visa but the send it to us consulate in mexico and he has to pick it up and then he would be barred from entering for 10 years. How many of you think this is a screwed up policy?

Illegal immigrants are given a ITIN from irs and they fill with that number it's only for people who can't get a ssn.

Why don't you just marry him, then just go back to Mexico with him and wait the 10 years with him and then come back. You will still be an American Citizen, and still be with the man you love.

And Yes, if that is the policy, it is screwed up.

The better way to do this is for him to return to his country then you file a petition for him. The key is for him to return to Mexico without the USA ever knowing he was here because of the 10 year ban. (Are you understanding that? I am saying there will NOT be a 10 year ban if they never find out he was here illegally.)

Those petitions take anywhere from 1 to 1.5 years. I know it sux but that's the only way. The reason those petitions take so long is because INS is so underfunded and backlogged. You might get it faster if you get the attorney to help.

Btw, it just occurred to me.. You might want to go to Mexico and remarry so that way they know he was never here illegally.

If he isnt legal then how in the world does he pay his taxes? I think its good that he supports your child, but if he is illegal then he has to follow policy like everyone else.

Do you think the US has a place for everyone that wants to be here? The US gets to decide who comes and goes, not foreigners.

sucks to be you! But just think how bad it would suck to be him! Hang in there, there's plenty more wets out there lookin' for an American girl to illegally harbor them. You're kids lucky you weren't put in jail for harboring!

If I break the law I go to jail or pay a penalty - why should he not have to do the same?
