They do as you say, Because the majority of Christians believe in a trinity of God in Three Persons. You cannot have three persons without having three Gods.

You will find people that think there is a Father God who created a Son (Junior God) and then there is a third God (Holy Ghost) which may be the female side of God.

Witnesses get around this by making Jesus a created being rather than the Word made flesh.and dwelling among us.

John said, In the beginning was the Word (that is the word was eternal).and the Word was with God and the Word WAS GOD.
And we are told that the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us. We are further told that nothing in the universe was made without Him.

If you mean that a form is a manifestation of one God then you are not a trinitarian and believe in one God. If that is the case you will agree with me that the Jehovah of the Old Testament is Jesus of the New Testament. - Because Jesus said the entire Old Testament was about Him - not about His father? You will then agree with me that it was Jehovah who was born in the manger at Bethelem.

You will also agree that Jesus is the only God and the Father. Isiah says of Him, He shall be called Wonderfull, Counselor, THE MIGHTY GOD, THE EVERLASTING FATHER, the Prince of Peace.

Millions of Christian over hundreds of years have heard this all through Handels Messiah. The last words of the Messiah are --"..The Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.

From St. Peter forward for 300 years, every Christian that was baptised heard these words: ,".....I baptise you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ." They were baptised that way because the Lord is the name and Father the title; Jesus is the name and Son is the title and Messiah or Christ is the name and Holy Ghost is the title.

So witnesses believe what they believe about the trinity because it is mostly true. Most Christians unknowingly believe in three persons or three Gods. There are however millions of Christian who do not believe a false trinity doctrine. The witnesses cannot be counted as accepting Jehovah God for if they accepted Jehovah God they would accept the Lord Jesus as the I AM He claimed to be; and the Emanuel, God with Us, that the angels proclaimed Him to be; and they would further accept Him as the essence of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, that is God making His abode with men.

Speaking for myself, when someone tells me they believe in the trinity doctrine, my thoughts immediately go to the scripture at Matthew 24:36 which states "Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son, but only the Father." And since you raise the issue of Bible versions, here are a few others:

New International - No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

New American Standard - But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.

Young's Literal Translation - And concerning that day and the hour no one hath known -- not even the messengers of the heavens -- except my Father only

If God, Christ and the holy spirit were 3 gods in 1 and co-equal, all three would know the day and hour. And yet, Christ says the Son (a/k/a Jesus) doesn't know, but says that only his father knows. You also might take a look at 1 Corinithians 11:3 regarding headship. Interestingly, Jesus places God as having headship over him.

If you're Catholic, here's a quote from the NEW CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA - “The formulation ‘one God in three Persons’ was not solidly established, certainly not fully assimilated into Christian life and its profession of faith, prior to the end of the 4th century. But it is precisely this formulation that has first claim to the title the Trinitarian dogma. Among the Apostolic Fathers, there had been nothing even remotely approaching such a mentality or perspective.”

Also of note is that the Encylopedia Americana states: "Fourth century Trinitarianism did not reflect accurately early Christian teaching regarding the nature of God; it was, on the contrary, a deviation from this teaching."

So, if the first century Christians didn't believe in a trinitarian God and those ones were WITH Christ while he was on earth, where did this teaching come from? Ancient pagan religions? Note what the Nouveau Dictionnaire Universal has to say: "The Platonic trinity, itself merely a rearrangement of older trinities dating back to earlier peoples, appears to be the rational philosophic trinity of attributes that gave birth to the three hypostases or divine persons taught by the Christian churches."

In my opinion, the trinity is an interesting concept...just not a Scriptural one.

Just because one witness worded it that way doesnt mean "Jehovah's WitnessES" believe it. Nobody is perfect, and a Christian of all people should know that. I am with Jehovah's Witnesses nearly 24/7 and they understand your views on the Trinity, so dont be worried about that. A real Bible? The NWT of the Holy Scriptures is known as one of the most precise translations on the earth today. Please dont be so judgemental of fellow Christians.

Edit: For the person's comment below mine; Witnesses are known for using the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures

For the gentleman's comment two below mine: The main difference between their Bibles and yours is the use of Jehovah in place of LORD or GOD where those two words were used to replace Jehovah. Also, Jehovah's Witnesses use Many if not most of the translations out there in the world today. Please get your facts straight concerning a religion before you post them on the internet.

You are correct, Christians believe in the Trinity. God the father, God the son and God the Holy Spirit.
Keep in mind that the JW's have their own bible and it differs from all the main stream Bibles.

I have cracked open the King James as well as other Bibles that are not the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures. I am a Jehovah's Witness and do not think that people who believe in the Trinity believe in three gods unless that is what they say to me. You must understand that there are different views on just about everything so it is hard to keep up with the different views on Trinity (and there are many). Sorry if an assumption was made by one of us about your beliefs. However, we do not believe in 3 forms of God, either.

For one, the Holy Spirit is not a form of God, because God clearly uses it to bring forth His purpose on many occasions. The evening before his death, Jesus said to his faithful apostles: “It is for your benefit I am going away. For if I do not go away, the helper will by no means come to you; but if I do go my way, I will send him to you.” (John 16:7) He was going to send not a person but an active force. He made this explicit just before ascending to heaven, saying to his assembled disciples: “I am sending forth upon you that which is promised by my Father. You, though, abide in the city until you become clothed with power from on high.”—Luke 24:49. God would not promise himself to the apostles of that day if he was to be waiting for His son up in heaven.

We also believe Jesus to be separate from God because he is God's firstborn creation, which means God created him apart from Himself. If all three were a part of each other, then they would all have existed for eternity, like we know God to have been.

Many people who read the Bible feel that when Christ talks about being in union with his Father, he is alluding to a Trinity, but this is also unfounded, for he also talks about us being in union with him. Do we also form some kind of union equivalent to a Trinity with him? Or do we become a fourth part? I am not trying to make you feel foolish for your beliefs; I merely wish to show you where it doesn't add up to the rest of the truths presented in the Bible. Three levels of heaven isn't one of them. That's why we don't believe that either.

Jehovah's Witnesses are notorious for using only the King James Bible which is easy to misinterpret in modern English and they teach a lot of extra-biblical ideas and odd interpretations of the Bible.

Most denominations consider them a cult. At least they aren't handing our poison Kool-aide

Christendom's idea about a triple-god is based upon earlier triple-gods of the Greeks, Romans, and Babylonians. Pretending that a Father, a Son, and an impersonal active force are each independently "God" and that humans must worship all three certainly conforms to the dictionary definition of "polytheism"!

Trinitarians love to regurgitate philosophy, Greek, and quotes from other Babylon-loving Trinitarians. By contrast, the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses believes that the Scriptures alone quite plainly demonstrate that Jesus and the Almighty are separate distinct persons, and the Almighty created Jesus as His firstborn son.

(Colossians 1:15) the firstborn of all creation

(Mark 10:18) Jesus said to him: 'Why do you call me good? Nobody is good, except one, God.

(Revelation 3:14) the Amen says, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation by God

(Philippians 2:5-6) Christ Jesus, who, although he was existing in God's form, gave no consideration to a seizure, namely, that he should be equal to God

(John 8:42) Neither have I come of my own initiative at all, but that One sent me forth

(John 12:49) I have not spoken out of my own impulse, but the Father himself who sent me has given me a commandment as to what to tell and what to speak

(John 14:28) I am going my way to the Father, because the Father is greater than I am

(1 Corinthians 15:28) But when all things will have been subjected to him, then the Son himself will also subject himself to the One who subjected all things to him

(Matthew 20:23) this sitting down at my right hand and at my left is not mine to give, but it belongs to those for whom it has been prepared by my Father

(1 Corinthians 11:3) I want you to know that the head of every man is the Christ; ...in turn the head of the Christ is God

(John 20:17) I am ascending to my Father and your Father and to my God and your God.

(Deuteronomy 6:4) Jehovah our God is one Jehovah

(1 Corinthians 8:4-6) There is no God but one. For even though there are those who are called "gods," whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many "gods" and many "lords," there is actually to us one God the Father, out of whom all things are, and we for him

Jehovah Witnesses do not understand the concept of the TRINITY....

Either that, or it's simply because they DENY the DEITY of CHRIST...to them, Jesus was just an over glorified prophet... they do NOT acknowledge him the same as God.

I guess they never read Colossians 2:9 -----

Don't get me wrong: I don't look down on any religious group. People have the choice to worship what they want...However, it really irritates me when people label themselves CHRISTIAN, and yet don't even accept CHRIST as God.

Go figure! ????
