yes you can get out. Just tell the recruiter that you have changed your mind. He will tell you that you have signed a contract but he is bluffing. He has to get so many people in the army every month. So he will try and make you go. You DO NOT HAVE TOO. I was a recur tier before I got out. you can get out. Just do not take no for an answer. Nothing bad will happen to you. Just tell them you are not ready yet, maybe next year.
They would rather have you not go now then go and fail. You will be giving the opportunity there once you are in Basic traning gets started to go back home.
If the recurtier still say you have to go, you just tell him, that you will not get on the bus to go. He will get you out of it. I promis. I was in the ARMY of over 8 years. I was a staff Sergent (E-6) I know all about the tricks. Just say NO!

If you have not been shipped to basic training and finallized all your papers on that end then yes there is a way out. Some things that are hard to find out, ifnd out years later, but technically the last time u can get out of your military service is actually in the reception battalion of basic training. So if you have not shipped to basic training they technically dont own you. Yes, they will treat u like a deserter and will make it very hard on you but you are not commited to be on the flight and you can object and back out of the contract. Found out you can actually back out in the first week or so of basic but if you are not there already you can get out before you get there. Was nation guard myself for 8 yeras. Not saying if it is a good thing to get out or stay in but if it is something you really dont want in your life and dont see anything positive out of it then it would be a good time to get out of it before it is official. If you stay in and hate it with the way the world is going now you will end up regretting it. Good luck whatever you decide to do. Talk to JAG officer instead of your recruiter for more truthful answers on what you can do legally.

ok first are they army reserve or national guard? those are two different organizations, and they CAN get out but they have to go through the proper channels, and fill out the proper paperwork, and then it has to get approved..but if this enlisted person didn't want to join they should never have signed up.

Yes, you can quit. You have to say an oath at the MEPS center and then where you get shipped to. Call your recruiter and tell him you dont want to go and you won't say your second oath. I did the same with full time Army in 89'.

Army reserve national guards... why quit? You get paid for being a weekend warrior. It isn't like you joined the marines... You raised your right hand and swore in... I think you are in..

You can retire, but then you can never be the military (all branches) ever again!

If you are in below five years, I think, then you don't get any special stuff when you retire.

My dad was in for 20yrs and has a whole bunch of special stuff

If you're still in DEP call you recruiter right away....because you haven't taken the oath of enlistment yet.
