Jesus is the Son of God. We worship Jesus because he is the Redeemer of this world. God the Father sent his son to atone for the sins of the world, in his great mercy. It is only through belief in the Lord Jesus Christ and following his gospel that we can receive a remission of our sins and come again into the presence of our Father in Heaven.

We should only worship God. Jesus said so, but notice the following:
In Revelation 22:8-9, John fell down to worship an angel, and the angel told him to not worship him because he was a fellow servant. The angel said "Worship God!" (See also Rev 19:10)
Also, the apostles never allowed any to worship them. They always directed the worship to God or to Christ. (See Acts 3:12-16)
But notice the difference. Many times people worshiped Christ. Not once did Christ ever stop anyone who was worshiping him. (See Matt. 2:11, 8:2, 9:18, 14:33, 15:25, 18:26, et al). Why would the person who said to worship only God, not stop people who were worshiping him? Because Jesus is God!
In John 1, Jesus is called "the word". It says "In the beginning was the word... and the word... was God!" This "word" that created the world, "became flesh and dwelt among us".
In Matthew 3:16-17, and other verses, you can see all three members of the Godhead listed.

Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit. Comprise the trinity. Three in one. The Alpha and Omega, or beginning and end. According the Bible Jesus says I and the Father are one. The name Jesus means he will save the people of their sins. Only someone without sin could do that. The only person able to be without sin is God. Everyone that ever lived or ever will live is with sin. Jesus also said that the only way to get to heaven is through him. Most people dont like this as it negates their religion and makes christians seem bigoted. That is why christians are persecuted more then any other religion. But Christians worship God because he is the only way to get to heaven.

Jesus is not a prophet. He is the son of God. He is known as the Messiah. God the father, God the son, God the holy spirit make up the Trinity.
These are the fundamental beliefs of Christians. If you read the Bible and remembered what it said, that would be a surprise to me.

Jesus is God, very God, from the beginning to the end. He claimed to be God, and accepted worship as God. That is why He was put to death, for blasphemy. The word "trinity" is not there, but there are many references where we see three distinct beings, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Matt. 3:16 & 17 would be one. You need more educated friends.

Jesus was not a prophet, he was the God in the form of man.
The trinity is a word used to express the combination of God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Spirit. All are one in the same.
Just like my husband is a Father, Son, Husband, Brother, Uncle, etc. All different attributes of himself, but he is still one person.

Is that good friend of yours the bible or just another religious zealot? But I think your right. We should stop worshiping Christ and worship God. Jesus was only here to help spread the word of God not to be revered.

as man is a trinity, body, mind, and soul, so is GOD a trinity, father, son, and holy ghost. we worship only one god, but acknowledge the separate parts of the complete whole....a lot of Christians believe that the only way to GOD is thru the son. I'm not so sure about that tho...

God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are one. Jesus is the "Son", therefore, Jesus is God. We don't worship Jesus "as well", we worship God the Father, Son (Jesus) and Holy Spirit as One.

Christians believe that Jesus is the Son of God, part of the same substance, that He and His Father are parts of One Being.
More importantly, read what He taught, and try to live by His words.
