I'm a christian and I've tried really hard to understand the teachings of Jehovah witnesses, but I can't. I don't know if they believe in Him being the son of God or if He was just a good man. And what's this thing about a certain amount of Christians only being let into Heaven?..what about the rest of us?

The reality is that any religious group that calls itself the "one true religion" or "the truth" is one of the hallmark signs of a cult. Jehovah Witnesses is a high control cult. They will bomb you with love if you show an interest in studying (read joining) them, but if you start to ask questions, you will be shot down and eventually told something along the lines of "you're just not ready for the truth."

Their doctrine is full of holes and is frequently changed. Did you know that they have predicted the end of days several times and of course, none have been true. If they are "the truth" then how come they can state absolutes like "the world will end on this date" and have those absolute "truths" proven false?

They also protect child molesters and rapists (see http://www.silentlambs.org ). Women are to be subserviant to their man. If your husband beats you, then you aren't a good wife. Go back and try harder.

They tell people they don't have to worry about saving for retirement because they won't live on this earth that long, so many of their elderly are impoverished.

They don't tell you that once baptised, if you break the rules you will be disfellowshipped (thrown out) and that if this happens, or you ask to leave (disassociated) that you will be SHUNNED by all in the organization including family members. The shunning may well be the cruelest thing they do for I do not know of a single Witness family that doesn't feel the pain of members they cannot associate with.

You will kiss goodbye celebrations of birthdays, Christmas, Easter and all other holidays (though there is NO biblical justification for such a prohibition). You will not be able to vote or be active politically, and you will be expected to discourage your children from participating in any school activities, including sports.

Study the beginnings of Christianity, the years right after Jesus and you will see that much of modern christianity is so far off the original teaching of love it will sicken you.

NONE of these organizations have it right.

Do you homework.

I will try to help you the best I can over this impersonal medium. Yes, we do believe in Jesus Christ. Yes, we do believe that he is the son of Jehovah God. We believe that 144,000 individuals are going to heaven. Those with a heavenly hope are not better Christians than those not going. The rest of Jehovah's followers have an earthly hope. That is to say those not going to heaven have a chance to live forever in paradise on earth in the way God intended. This is very much a simplified answer. For a more detailed answer I would suggest going to your local Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, and asking for a home bible study or asking someone there your questions. Please realize many attending meetings at the Kingdom Hall are also trying to answer these same questions. If I can help you can IM me. My email is Ishvarlan@yahoo.com.

*** GOOD QUESTIONS ***

Your first question deals with one of the most common misconceptions about Jehovah's Witnesses......and the answer is:

** Yes, we absolutely believe that Jesus is the son of God, just as we read in the Bible. (See John 3:16 and 17:3.)

Although your second question is a bit more involved, that answer also is found in the Bible:

** Revelations 7,4 and14:1,3 state that there will only be 144,000 humans taken to heaven. This limited number, or "small flock" are to be rulers over those will remain on the earth. (See Revelation 5:9,10; 7:9; John 10:16; and Psalm 37:29.) When Jehovah God created mankind, where did he place them? Not in heaven, but on the earth. (See Isaiah 45:18 and Psalm 115:16)

I don't know why it would be questionable whether someone can really believe in Jesus because of the religion they follow. If someone says they believe in Jesus, then they do. If you do not understand or agree with the teachings of any religion, then you should find one that you do agree with (thus all the different belief systems).

As for the belief in the 144,000 (I think this is the right number) going to heaven-- they believe that Earth will be made a paradise for all others and that those who are not worthy will never rise from the grave to enjoy heaven or paradise. They believe that hell is not a burning fire pit, but the grave itself when one does not resurrect. (I am not by any means a JW. I did have a friend who practiced that religion).

We believe that Jesus is Jehovah's first son and Jesus is also te one who hellped creating everything else such as the angels and earth and people. And everyone, well most people, know that he came down to earth to preach the word of the bible and his father, Jehovah. And the 144 thousand are known as the "little flock" and then the "bug flock" will be the many people living on earth for eternity in a perfect paradise while the "little flock" goes to Heaven to be priests over us.

Jehovah's Witnesses DO believe in Jesus as the SON of God and also as the Messiah. Yes, only a 144,000 go to heaven, but the rest of the faithful people will be on the earth enjoying life on a peaceful paradise.
"For evildoers themselves will be cut off, But those hoping in Jehovah are the ones that will possess the earth. And just a little while longer, and the wicked one will be no more;
And you will certainly give attention to his place, and he will not be. But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth,
And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace." (Psalms 37:9-11)

Colossians 1:15 says he is the image of the invisible god the first born of all creation. because by means of him all other things were created. He is a mighty spirit creature, second only to the Almighty. By means of him all other things came into being.
He at one time was a man on this earth. Who died for our sins.
Or actually the sins of Adam.
Revelation 5;10 says that those who go to heaven will rule the world as kings and priests. Heavenly government
If they rule the world then there has to be someone on the earth to rule over. Jesus said, "The meek would inherit the earth."
Most people I talk to want to live on a paradise earth. They don't even want to be a spirit creature and live on some distant planet.
Read Psalms 37:10,11 Jesus was quoting from that when he said we would live forever on the earth. Psalms 37:29
those scriptures really opened my eyes.

Jehovahs Witnesses believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God, and they believe that 144, 000 will be going to heaven to rule God's kingdom with Jesus, and they rest of the humans will live in a paradise earth, perfectly, with no sickness, death, crime, and everyone will be serving Jehovah in unity. You should ask a Jehovahs Witness these questions, and you are more then welcome to attend one of the meetings in their Kingdom Halls.

Sadly, this questioner feigns confusion while lying about the beliefs of Jehovah's Witnesses and implying that theirs is not a Christian faith. The Witnesses quite obviously and publicly profess belief that Christ Jesus was and is the only-begotten firstborn Son of God.

Trinitarians repeatedly pretend that Jehovah's Witnesses are not Christian. Trinitarians use an artificial, trinity-specific definition of the term "Christian" which excludes anyone who does not believe that Jesus is God Himself, rather than the Son of God. Interestingly, pagans in the first century pretended that Christ's followers were Atheists(!) because the Christians had a somewhat different idea from the pagans about the nature of God.

Jehovah's Witnesses teach that no salvation occurs without Christ, that accepting Christ's sacrifice is a requirement for true worship, that every prayer must acknowledge Christ, that Christ is the King of God's Kingdom, that Christ is the head of the Christian congregation, that Christ is immortal and above every creature, even that Christ was the 'master worker' in creating the universe! Both secular dictionaries and disinterested theologians acknowledge that Jehovah's Witnesses are a Christian religion.

The Trinitarian arguments are intended to insult and demean Jehovah's Witnesses, rather than to give a Scripturally accurate understanding of the term "Christian".

In fact, the bible most closely associates being "Christian" with preaching about Christ and Christ's teachings. The Scriptures only use the term "Christian" a handful of times; please review all the times the bible uses the term "Christian" and note that the context connects the term with:
"declaring the good news"
'teaching quite a crowd'
'open eyes, turn from dark to light'
"uttering sayings of truth"
"persuade"
"keep on glorifying"

(Acts 11:20-26) [The early disciples of Jesus] began talking to the Greek-speaking people, declaring the good news of the Lord Jesus... and taught quite a crowd, and it was first in Antioch that the disciples were by divine providence called Christians.

(Acts 26:17-28) [Jesus said to Paul] I am sending you, to open their eyes, to turn them from darkness to light and from the authority of Satan to God... Paul said: “I am not going mad, Your Excellency Festus, but I am uttering sayings of truth and of soundness of mind. ...Do you, King Agrippa, believe the Prophets? I know you believe.” But Agrippa said to Paul: “In a short time you would persuade me to become a Christian.”

(1 Peter 4:14-16) If you are being reproached for the name of Christ, you are happy... But if he suffers as a Christian, let him not feel shame, but let him keep on glorifying God in this name

So why do anti-Witnesses try to hijack the term "Christian" and hide its Scriptural implications? Because anti-Witnesses recognize that it is the preaching work that makes it clear that the relatively small religion of Jehovah's Witnesses are by far the most prominent followers of Christ:

(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded

Jehovahs Witnesses believe they are JESUS. Jesus said do all things in his name he is the way, JW's say we follow Jehovah. Did you not know that Jehovah isn't the name of God, that name is in error invented by a cotholic monk named raymondue Martini in the 12th century and didn't find it's way into the bible until the 15th century. Stay away from this deadly cult, they have gone as far to write their own bible to suit the needs of the cult.
