Btw, I'm a kid with no money, that's why I haven't gotten rid of the fleas on the cat altogether.

Maybe you could treat the cats for fleas with Advantage or Frontline. Then everyone would be happier!!!!!!!!!!

You have two problems and you need two solutions.

The first problem is cats with fleas, and that's easy to solve. Go to a vet and buy some Advantage. There are other good products, like Frontline and Revolution, but tests have shown that Advantage works fastest, and that seems important in your situation.

Avoid look-alike grocery store products like Hartz Mountain flea drops! Last year those were taken off the market by the EPA because they were killing cats and dogs, but distributors and retailers were allowed to continue selling product already in the distribution chain, so they're still available. Don't use them!

Also buy Advantage or the other good products Only from a vet! The market has been flooded with dangerous counterfeits and many dogs and cats have died from them. Legitimate retailers have been fooled. A vet practice buys directly from the manufacturer, so you know you're getting the real thing.

Now for the second problem. Along with defleaing your cats, you also have to deflea your house. That's a little more trouble, but it's not hard to do. You can get flea killer at a hardware store in either an aerosol bomb or a bottle with a squeeze-spray top. If you have a big house, get a bomb for each floor, including the basement and the attic if you have those. Trying to do a big house with squeeze bottles will take all day and probably give you tendonitis!

Put away all food, human and pet, all dishes and bowls, and if you're using bombs, cover your kitchen counters with newspaper. Put away or cover anything you wouldn't want covered with insecticide. Close all windows, doors and vents. Get everyone of all species out of the house and either spray everywhere (and I mean Everywhere!) or set off the bombs. (You've noticed by now that aerosol bombs are a lot easier!)

Get out of the house and keep everyone out for a couple hours - the product label will tell you how long. When you go back in, ventilate the house thoroughly.

This is a pain in the butt to do, but it will work. You, your house and your pets will be flea-free. Then keep using Advantage (or the product of your choice) on the cats each month until winter, so they don't get more fleas.

The only way to really avoid flea bites is to get rid of the fleas.

First, get your cats dipped, then treat them with Front Line: That's the best product I know for repelling fleas. Then close them in a room without any carpet and treat the rest of the house, and vacuum. And keep vacuuming every day for a month or so. Arm and Hammer makes a powder that's great for killing fleas, and their eggs. I have successfully used powdered laundry detergent for the same purpose.

Don't forget to vacuum the furniture, and to move furniture and vacuum there.

Good luck!

Treat your cats monthly with Frontline Plus or Advantage. Take them and yourself out of the house and use a bug bomb. Make sure you cover or remove any water dishes or food. My 3 indoor/outside cats are treated; about every year we bomb the house for bugs but we've never had an infestation of fleas.
As cats age, they can become alergic to flea bites; that can be a problem

Advantage and Frontline are good...

Also sprinkle garlic on the food and put a small bowl of water with a little bit of dish washing soap in it under a night light. The fleas will be attracted to the light at night and when then jump in the water the soap keeps them from getting out. They also do not like the taste of garlic on the cats/dogs skin.

Trust Me :) Use "Advantage" on your cats and bomb your house...I promise you...you will NOT have a flea problem anymore! Fleas are very unhealthy for anyone....they are sucking the life right out of your cats.

The Bubonic Plague or "Black Death" was a fatal disease spread by fleas which lived on rats and humans....it killed over a million people in Europe, and more than that in Asia....

who knows what fleas are capable of transmitting to humans now.....

you might want to get rid of the fleas...instead of just trying to avoid being bitten.......

1) Put off bug bombs in every room....be sure you are and cats are not in the house.

2) Bath your cats in Dawn shampoo (the regular kind) or take them to a groomer to be bathed.

3) I the cats go outside have a professional spray your yard.

4) Don't leave the cats run loose.

first you should deparasite your cats. frontline works really good. then buy a special inseciticide and deparasite the environment...(the house itself ) because fleas do not live on cats they live in the environment and get on a cat or human subject only when they want to feed.
