They are so cheap that it is not worth spending time to find one website that offers a dollar/night less. Do a google search for bangkok hotel and check 2 sites to be sure the prices are about the same. Is it really worth spending an hour trying to save $10 total over the course of your trip?? Just remember that even though they are cheap you still get what you pay for - A $20/night hotel is probably the bare minimum that you would want to think about. The nicest cheap hotel in Bangkok that I am aware of is the Sathron Villa hotel. The hotel is about two stars by western standards. The location is good for a tourist close to skytrain and about 20-30 min walk to night market at Pat Pong. Food-ok,-room-ok,lobby was ok but hallways were dirty and smelly, maid service and staff were good. (It was certainly better than the Hampton Inn in Landover MA that I got stuck in when I flew into DC only to find that the tards at my office forgot to book a hotel for me and everything was booked for some protest!) Remember that BKK is a big place - don't try to save $ by staying at a place that is far away from everything, you will spend more on cabs etc and not have as much fun as you would if u were in the middle of everything!! For location/quality/cost Sathorn villa is the bare minimum in my book. If you can spend more to stay at one of the chain hotels it is better. (Since you ask about the best deal and not the cheapest) I think the best deal is the Conrad on wireless road. It is not cheap, but it is way better than hotels costing 5 times as much in the states.

My advice is to find a hotel when you get to Thailand. It is cheaper to walk in and book one than to book online. I live in Thailand and have seen hotels offering rates 3 times as high online as they really are. The prices are still cheap so westerners don't know they are being gouged.
