A friend of mine had prepared himself for a tour of three weeks thru train......it was his very first day of the tour and at first small station, he saw a guy jumped before approaching train. It was a calculated suicide....but my friend thought the scene as a kind of bad omen and returned to home dismissing his tour.

I dont know if you're a religious person or anything, but this is what I have found: At Deuteronomy 18:9-13 it says "When you are entered into the land that Jehovah your God is giving you, you must not learn to do according to the detestable things of those nations. There should not be found in you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, anyone who employs divination, a practicer of magic, OR ANYONE WHO LOOKS FOR OMENS or a sorcerer or one who binds others with a spell or anyone who consults a spirit medium or a professional foreteller of events or anyone who inquires of the dead. For everybody doing these things is something Detestable to Jehovah, and on account of these detestable things Jehovah your God is driving them away from before you. You should prove yourself faultless with Jehovah your God."

So basically, Omens mean nothing and will not help you, and furthermore, the act of someone looking for omens is detestable to God. (The act, not the person). I hope this may have answered your question :)

I am a very superstitious person as well, however, that one I would not call a bad omen. Now if he happened to know the guy, or if that guy cut in front of him to get where he was, then I might have another thought.. but no, not a bad omen for him.

Itts a bad omen if he thinks its a bad omen from the sound of things a person decided to commit suicide. For your friend to take on that its an omen it now becomes an omen to him. I wonder about your friend why would he prepare for a trip look forward to it then on his first day after someone else decides to kill themselves which has nothing to do with him stop his tour. why does he take on such negativity and apply it to himself.

He himself turned it into a 'bad' omen by letting it ruin his trip.

OK so your friend the superstitious , allowed one person, an idiot, to ruin his trip. I'd say his superstition brought him really bad luck! Wouldn't you?
