If you have accepted Jesus as your saviour and he died for your sins, then you're basically free to commit all the sins you want right, because you're going to heaven anyways, right?

Then what exactly is the point?

NO! You must repent to walk with the Lord.

Just kidding. Once you accept Jesus, it's like God just handed you and blank check. It's a wonder why more Christians don't go on more rampages of evil and say, "I'm sorry, I was just a sinner," on their deathbeds.

Let me reword your answer a little and it will still be true.

If you don't believe in Jesus?
If you have not accepted Jesus as your saviour and don't believe that he died for your sins, you're still basically free to commit all the sins you want , and you're still going to go to heaven anyways, because God loves you and would never allow a place like hell to exist.

It is no longer a question, now it is a statment and it's true.

Love and blessings.

No, you are never basically free to commit all the sins you want, 'because you're going to Heaven anyway.' That is selective believing and those who adhere to this belief are deceiving themselves, or allowing themselves to be deceived. No one can be sure of Heaven until he is there.

The mechanics of Salvation are actually more complicated than that. You must accept the Lord, repent of your sins, ask forgiveness and resolve to sin no more.

Even this explanation is oversimplified but you can see that it involves more than simply accepting Jesus as 'your personal Lord and Savior,' which is a lie told by those who peddle a 'feel good religion of convenience that tells the congregation what they want to hear.'

If you have really accepted Jesus as your Saviour and didn't just do it for someone else or to stay out of Hell, then you will strive to become more like Him. In that case you will not want to do wrong things. You of course will from time to time ,but you will try to always do the right thing and when you sin you will feel very bad about yourself.

If you accepted Jesus as your savior then most likely you wouldnt want to commit sin because of your love for him. But if you think that believing on him just to secure a place in heaven is gonna work then you might want to think again.

I believe there was a man named Jesus Christ who was a Jewish rabbi (teacher) and philosopher and that he was perhaps executed by crucifixion, although there is some doubt about that. I also think he was probably married and may have had children. I know I'm just a Godless heathen and will rot in hell forever for thinking that, but I really can't get into the virgin birth and all that. That is just a little too much. But wait! Maybe there's hope for me - doesn't the bible say God is a loving God? Well, if he's loving, he wouldn't want me to suffer in pain and misery throughout eternity now would he?

your basically free to commit all the sins you want? what kind of a question is that? is that the holy, christian life God calls us to live? when you accept Jesus as your saviour and died for your sins, there's more than just believing it... its living it, when you accept Jesus into your heart, it means you're willing to hand your life over to him, because he is holy and perfect.... i know you don't to heaven for doing good, but you wouldn't go into heaven for just accepting that he died for your sins... he died for your original sins and made it so humans COULD go to heaven, its whether or not we choose to invite God into our lives and try to live a pure, holy, christian life.... making right choices, etc. its not like "whew, i accepted Jesus, i'm free to do whatever i want" its a thing that you're committed to your whole life and always trying to improve... no one is perfect, only God is and that's how it works... hope i answered your question, God bless!!!

If you have truly accepted Jesus as your saviour, you don't want to commit sins because it's Jesus living in you, not you anymore.

No, you are wrong. A Christian is accepted into heaven by accepting Jesus. That is true. But a true, sincere Christian makes a powerful effort to live as Christ would have lived. Even if we all sin we are expected to follow Jesus' words and actions. That is what a true Christian is.

No. A true Christian knows When they have failed God and asks for forgiveness each time they sin, which is everyday. We also are told by God to live by man's laws. You are saved by asking Jesus to forgive you of past sins and asking Him to be the Lord and Master of your life. Our good works will not get us into God's Kingdom but will be rewarded in Heaven. Our unconfessed sins will be dealt with there also. We try to do better after we have received Christ but we are only human and make mistakes. We have the responsibility to try and not make them again and to keep growing more Christlike every day by Bible study, worship, prayer, going out to witness to others, and fellowshipping with others. I hope this helps.

That is what some think but keep in mind that even though Jesus freed us from the law. He still stated that two laws were to be adhered to totally. 1 that you love God with all your heart, mind and soul. placing him first. but that 2. you also should love your neighbor as yourself. so yes you are "basically" free from the law. you still will have an overwhelming "DESIRE" to do the will of God. That is why that once you are saved you will turn away from sin and strive to be more "Christ like" in all you do. Yes if you sin you are not going to be kicked out of the family of God, but you will like any good child strive to please your father. Which is now God almighty.
