The link below is the place I go for most of my pet products. They are the most inexpensive I know on-line. I would also suggest that to get your cat to use the scratcher, put some catnip on it to draw the cat to it. You may discontinue the catnip slowly, and he will keep going back to the post. Good Luck

For my cat, I used to have a round post nailed to a base, then cover the post with thick rope(the rough kind) from a hardware store or nautical supply store.

For a scratching-playing post for my cats, I took a section of log from a tree that Hurricane Isabelle brought down and nailed a piece of discarded carpet to it. They don't have their front claws now, but they love to get on that post and sit on it. And it is free!

Completely useless, that's what it is! My experience with my 2 cats tells me they'll ignore virtually anything that I give them on purpose for scratching and will use the couch instead.
