He is 2 year old and only threw up a rawhide. He also didn't eat much this morning. I've never had a dog with diarrhea before so I don't know how to treat him. Can I give him white rice?

It's the rawhide. These are not good treats for a large dog, they tend to eat them instead of gnawing on them. This can cause stomach problems and there is a possibility that he has an intestinal blockage.

Yes, white rice is wonderful for dogs with diarrhea. The most important thing is that he drinks water.

Keep your eye on this situation. If things start getting worse instead of better, get to a vet.

My dog had a mild case of diarrhea about a month ago. It turned out that it was the Kibbles & Bits canned food that I had him try. If you haven't fed your dog anything different and the diarhea is more than just a mild case, take him to the vet, especially if he isn't drinking either.

Call your vet. They are the trained professionals and they will tell you exactly what you can and can't give him, and what you should do. If your vet isn't open weekends, there are a ton of 24 hour emergency places you can call, just check the phone book. My suggestion would be don't try any at home remedies UNTIL you have spoken with the vet.

It is very important to take your dog to the vet as soon as possible, dogs having diarrhea is very fatal.

Take him to the vet. There must be something wrong with him internally.
