I have heard greenies are good and some say they are bad. Which is it?

Greenies are good depending on the size of your dog. These treats don't come large enough so that a big dog doesn't just eat them. These are meant to be gnawed on by small dogs.

I find it difficult to find treats that my Rottweiler will not just eat. This means she can't have a lot of things that I give my small dogs. She will just sit and eat a rawhide bone whole. Another treat that is meant to be gnawed. I found large beef knuckle bones to be about all I can give to her that doesn't cause problems.

I give low salt cheese as treat to all my dogs. Milk bones, as these are meant to be eaten, are good. Don't give small, hard things to big dogs.

There are dangers with any dog treats, they used to say that rawhide was dangerous.
Basically the problem is that IF the dog does not chew through the greenie or rawhide properly, then a large piece can lodge itself in the intestine or bowel.
If you think of it, alot of treats can do this.

I like giving my dog natural treats, pig ears or cow hooves.
If you are interested in oral care, you can also consider Science Diet Oral Care food. I use it as treats, the dogs love the taste and the kibbles break up and clean the gums as well.

Greenies® are not appropriate for all dogs. The feeding directions state that Greenies® should not be fed to dogs less than six months old, dogs less than five pounds, and dogs who gulp food and treats.

i'm gonna ought to say no in this one. I have a Lab, he's about 15 months previous now. there isn't any way i'd were able to address 2 Lab pups collectively. they're somewhat extreme ability and take a large style of interest and preparation to grow to be large dogs. i'd worry that in case you had 2 starting to be up collectively, one may feed off the others detrimental behaviors and preparation may grow to be a starting to be style of inauspicious for both you and the pups. i imagine dogs starting to be up at the same time is a staggering theory, even if, i imagine with Labs they deserve one hundred% devotion as a thanks to strengthen as a lot as be the full dogs they're frequently. i'd wait till your pups first birthday to characteristic yet another Lab to the kin, yet it really is in basic terms my opinion. Labs are typically very accepting to new pups, so an addition later down the line ought to not be an project. We in basic terms were given 2 bunnies some days in the past, and my 100lb Lab will lay on the floor and lick them till they run away. He loves new pups, kittens and different animals!

I love Authority treats they come in a red bag and you can get them at Petsmart. They are softer and perfect for training (i.e. marking good behavior). Also if your dog ever needs medication they are soft enough to put pills right inside, and he'll never know. I've heard that rawhide is bad because dog's choke on it. Well good luck with your doggie!

I wish I knew because my dogs loved them, but with the recent tales, I am not taking the risk.
I use a Kong and stuff all kinds of things in it. I freeze stuff in it too. I also use treat balls.
Liver chunks frozen in a small ice block works great for the summer.

greenies do not necessarily digest. i work at vet, and we did surgery on some dog who had internal blockage because he at 4 pairs of socks, and we found 3 greenies in him, and his owners said they hadn't given them to him for a while (like, weeks, while).

My yellow lab is 110 # and I actually make his treats, and for my basset also. The store treats are to small for him so I bake them myself and make them larger. Because of that I started selling them at craft shows anfd have been for the last 4 years

I order all of my treats from petextras.com

They have the best selection of all natural treats. My dog loves the Antlerz (naturally shed deer antler), Achilles tendons, venison jerky, freeze dried cod & salmon, and pig ears. They have lots of other stuff (for cats too!), but my dog has food allergies and is a picky eater!

i use greenies for my babies (dogs!!).....and they love them, plus it cleans their teeth. but yeah, i've also heard that they can clog ateries (sp?). but i think it's ok, you should ask a vet if you're not sure. also try science diet jerky treat things. they're good too.
